A note from Damien

Hey everyone, welcome to this week's edition of The Pipeline, it's the place to go to stay up to date.

As a school we are working extremely hard to keep you informed around the ever changing situation with Covid19. I am sharing with you as regularly as possible our school response to the situation. These updates are coming out via email through LincEd, if you are not getting these updates please contact Heather (heatherb@mtprimay.school.nz) to ensure we have your correct email address.

It is important at times like this that we consider ourselves as role models for our children. They will look to us to understand how to behave and how to respond to these situations. Whilst we all know it's a worrying time, please try to maintain a sense of calm. Thanks for helping to look after our Mounties and to keep them safe.

Our partnership with sKids is going really well for our school and numbers are continuing to grow. I would like to point out that our teaching staff are not expected to be in class until 8:30 each morning meaning that if your children are at school before this they are not supervised by any of our staff as they are preparing for their day and/or in meetings. If you need your child(ren) at school before 8:30 there is an option to send your child(ren) to sKids in the morning, that way you know they are safe and taken care of until our staff are around and ready to take over. It's a great service.

Remember to stay up to date, like us on Facebook too, we try to keep celebrations and sharing on there regularly too.

Thanks for taking the time to read our Pipeline and staying up to date with all the happenings at our school.

Nicali, Ben, Warren, Sarah, Leigh, Juliet, Damien

The Board of Trustees have been receiving regular updates from the Ministry of Education and Damien Harris in regards to the Coronavirus.  We believe the most important thing at this stage is to prevent the spread of the virus and being prepared for when it enters our community by activating our pandemic plan.

It is important that we act responsibly to mitigate any risk to the health of our community but also ensure that our students' lives can stay as normal as possible for as long as possible.  Any directive on the school closing will come from the Ministry of Education and if it were to happen it would likely be sudden.  We advise families to make sure you have a plan in place so you are ready if this does occur.

This is a rapidly evolving situation so the Board and Damien will share any significant updates with you when they come to hand, so please keep up to date with any communications coming from the school.

The next BOT meeting will be held Thursday 26th March at 6:00pm in the staffroom.

Please enquire at the office If you wish to pick up your bank book and continue banking yourself.   Hopefully, school banking will start again in Term 2.  We will keep you informed.

Sadly, this is just another example of illegal/dangerous parking at school!
Come on everyone, please park legally and safely and if there are no parks available then park further away and walk!!

Keep our Mounties SAFE!
Head Lice have been detected!
The school policy states that the treatment of head lice is the responsibility of parents / caregivers, therefore we need you to check your child's hair, and treat if required as soon as possible.
If you detect head lice please keep your child at home until their hair is clear.
Let's all work together to get rid of this continuing problem!

Hello Sports Fans

The registration for our winter sports for Term 2 and 3 are now open online at www.mtprimary.school.nz via the School Shop.  Registration is open to all students from new entrants to Year 6.  The sports available are Netball, Hockey and Basketball and all details for these options are available in the school shop.  However if you do have any questions please feel free to contact me.

All registrations close on the 1st April.

On Thursday 12th March, 8 of our Year 6 students along with 10 students from Mount Maunganui Intermediate were very lucky to go along and be ball girls and boys for the NZ Beach Volleyball Olympic Qualifier held on the Mount Main Beach.  This was a great opportunity for our Mounties to work on being connected, aware, critical thinkers.  Below is our group photographed with Shaunna Polley and Julia Tilley the current Beach Volleyball Tour Champs for 2020.

Sports Outside Mount Primary:
