This is the third of what will be a series of updates on COVID-19 Pandemic and the precautions we are either taking or strongly recommending on Mayne Island.
If you have not read the first two (dated March 12th and 13th), we urge you to read them now because all the recommendations still apply.
Self-Isolation It is important that anyone coming to Mayne from any location outside Canada self-isolate for 14 days following their return. We can’t stress the importance of this measure enough. Please help us get this message out to the many Mayne Islanders who are returning from winter vacations and may not be aware.
Currently self-isolation is voluntary but may be mandated in the near future.
For more information, refer to the Provincial Health Office’s Self- Isolation Information and Monitoring Form posted on the Mayne Island Health Centre Association’s website.
Mayne Island Health Centre Protocols during this Pandemic
- Please avoid coming to the clinic for non-essential reasons.
- Consider requesting a phone appointment for follow-up on diagnostic results or other investigations.
- We will gladly renew and fax prescriptions over the phone.
- If you need a TAP form, please call ahead so it’s ready for you when you come to pick it up.
If you do have to come to the clinic:
- Stay in your car until your appointment time.
- Please be diligent about using the sanitation station before you enter the clinic.
- Practice social distancing by sitting or standing at least 2 metres (approximately 6 feet) away from anyone else.
- Stand back from the reception counter and maintain a distance from the medical office assistants.
To date, we have had no cases of COVID-19 on Mayne Island. With your help, we want to do everything we can to keep it that way.
Yours in good health, Juliana Losier, MD CCFP, Leanne Rowand, DNP
