It's been a hard few days for many of us as we adapt to the rapidly changing circumstance in which we find ourselves. The prime question in my mind has been, can we ensure our choir members' safety if we go ahead with choir tomorrow evening?
After consulting with the core group and considering input from many other song leaders around the country who are wrestling with this issue for their choirs as well, and with consideration of the government's recent recommendations and policy statements we have decided that we be at the hall tomorrow for those who want to come and sing.
We accept that we have a responsibility to make sure we provide as safe an environment as possible, but we also know that we are all grown-ups and as such we can evaluate the risks for ourselves and decide what is best on a personal basis.
So if you would like to sing and you are feeling well please evaluate the risk and come and join us if you feel comfortable. We'll keep a little distance, there will be plenty of soap but we'll flag the cuppa for now (bring your own drink bottle?). But mostly there will be joyous singing, because that's what we all need right now!
The situation changes from day to day (almost from hour to hour) and we'll re-evaluate next week depending on the needs of our community and the advise we get.
