We wanted to update everyone on what we are doing in response to COVID-19.
We’ve created some resources that cover how to reduce the risk of it spreading including some resources for sex, drugs, mental health and well being in what can be a stressful time. Find our detailed web page here.
That page also includesinformation for venuesand sex workers that could be helpful in the coming days and weeks.
What should people who take drugs know about coronavirus?
Viruses (such as the common cold, flu and hep C) and bacteria (such as E. coli and Staph), can be spread when people take drugs with unclean or shared equipment. To help prevent the spread, good hygiene practices are essential.
The website page includes information on sexual health, mental health and advice for venues (pubs and clubs) during this time.
How to effectively wash your hands.
Crew Services
Our counselling and Drop-in services will be affected. We will be offering scaled back services.
Please visit our website for the most up to date information. Current counselling clients will be updated of any changes and our Drop-in hours of service may also change at short-notice.
We take the health of the people who use our services, volunteers and staff seriously and in order to maintain the best health of everyone in our community there are certain changes that we might have to make to our day to day running as an organisation, and as individuals.
People who do not have symptoms may still have the virus and be able to pass it on to others. It is important that we all take care to reduce the spread of viruses.
We also recognise that some people are at greater risk from the virus – this includes those with existing health conditions (such as respiratory conditions or those affecting the immune system), older people and people who are homeless. We want to do our bit to keep as many people as possible safe.
We have taken the decision to postpone any training events due to take place in March. We will continually review public health information and assess the provision of dates after March 31st.
Please rest assured that we will offer a place on any new dates scheduled in the future to anyone who has booked onto our March dates.
We will also be looking to get training up and running as soon as possible so please continue to think of Crew for any of your training needs later in the year.
Crew Outreach
We have also taken the decision to cancel any of our outreach events until the end of March.
This is in response to the Scottish Government decision that all events over 500 people should be cancelled.
We are hopeful that outreach planned for later in the year can go ahead so again, please get in touch if you would like to book our welfare services or if we can provide an information stand at your event later in the year.
Join us for the Kiltwalk 2020
The Glasgow edition of the Kiltwalk has been postponed but we are still hopeful that the Edinburgh event in September will go ahead.
If you would like to walk for Crew please still consider taking part. Read more on our website here.
If you can raise £150 in sponsorship we’ll pay your entrance fee, provide gentle practice walks and tips to help you get ready and make the most of the Mighty Stride (24 miles) the Big Stroll (14.5 miles) or the Wee Wander (5 miles). Find out more about the Walker Journey here.
