Are you ready for

SheDecides Day 2021?

2 March is SheDecides Day, the global day of activism driving change for bodily autonomy.

It is an opportunity to demonstrate our collective commitment to the right of every girl and every woman, everywhere, in all their diversity, to make the decisions only they should make about their bodies, their lives and their future.

This SheDecides Day, #TakeYourSeat to demand women and girls’ voices are heard and at the core of decisions about their bodies. To share their experiences around bodily autonomy, and to be at the centre of a global conversation about women and girls’ right to decide. Without Question.

Why #TakeYourSeat?

#TakeYourSeat refers to the power of being at the table and part of the discussion. It reinforces the message that all too often, women and girls are prevented from taking their rightful place in conversations about their bodies, lives and future.

#TakeYourSeat also calls on people everywhere to learn from one another, connect with other communities and hold conversations with others about their own experiences around women and girls’ bodily autonomy.

What does #TakeYourSeat mean to you? What does it look like to claim a seat at the table in your community? What do you need to be able to #TakeYourSeat? This SheDecides Day is about claiming your power and raising your voice.

How do I take part?

Join the #TakeYourSeat photo challenge on social media to Stand Up and Speak Out to make your voice heard, to spark and lead powerful conversations about bodily autonomy that are often silenced through stigma.

Play the #TakeYourSeat card game to start conversations about bodily autonomy issues where there is silence. You can use the interactive feature on the hub, or download the card deck in different languages.

Visit the #TakeYourSeat online hub to find out more about #TakeYourSeat, hear from other friends and allies about the issues that matter to them, and download the toolkit and other materials to use on social media and offline. More materials, such as different language options of the card game, will be available for download closer to SheDecides Day, so keep checking back on the #TakeYourSeat hub for more! The hub is a safe space to share experiences and celebrate success.

Planning an event? Tell us about it!

Check out the SheDecides Day event page where you can log and upload information about your event, wherever you are. Once you have submitted the information, your event will appear on this interactive map which will help others find out what’s happening near them.
