Ozone is a natural gas composed of 3 oxygen atoms. It occurs in the atmosphere and is useful at protecting Earth's surface from harmful UV rays emitted from the sun. It is also extremely effective at destroying certain viruses and bacteria. Once the ozone molecules attach themselves to the organism, they begin to break down the cell wall and in turn the organism begins to die or become inactive. This process has been used for decades to disinfect and sanitize hard to clean spaces such as hospitals, public spaces and vehicles. When used properly, an ozone machine can rid vehicles of  certain smells like smoke, mould and organic odours. In the case of the current Coronavirus pandemic, ozone is being used to help limit the spread of the virus.
