Church Office Operating Remotely
and In-person Events Suspended

- All events, gatherings, and onsite social events are suspended.
- All board, committee, and task force meetings will occur via Zoom (web-based video conferencing). Please work with Linda Hacker, Church Administrator, to reserve your date and time.
- Church phone will be answered by Linda between 9 a.m. - Noon, Monday - Thursday.
- Staff will be available via cell and email during normal business hours (9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday).

During this period when we are being told by the government and medical officials to practice social distancing and in-person worship and normal scheduling are suspended, the staff is starting a new communication ministry entitled “Sacred Pause”. Starting today, Monday, March 16th, this daily video reflection will be offered via Facebook and our website at noon every weekday. Take a break in your day to be re-centered on God’s love and hope.
Everyone is invited to contribute a short video (1-10 mins). It can be a poem, a prayer, a children’s book, a meditation, a piece of music. Record yourself on your phone and send it to Nora, our Communications Administrator (nora@southchurch.com) who will schedule the daily posts.

Mid-Week Prayer Gathering
|

|
The staff will offer a time of prayer on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. via Zoom, a video conferencing tool. It will be a time of joys and concerns, meditation, and prayer. More information to come.

Pastor Dana is offering open-air office hours to anyone who would like to take a walk and connect. Reach out via email to schedule a time.

Candy Dann is creating a directory and map of all members of South Church, so you will know who lives in your neighborhood and you can check on each other. More to come.

As you all might have heard, all nursing homes and assisted living communities are closed to visitors. To avoid a sense of isolation, our Deacons have divided a list of 80 seniors in our congregation and are calling every week to check in.

Faith Formation for Children
|
|
|
Families will be provided with activities and ideas to engage with their children about faith and prayer at home. There will be some activities that can be done as a family and some that children can participate in independently. Children will be given opportunities to connect online with other kids where we’ll dance, sing and have storytime together - even remotely! Jenn and Sunday School teachers will be in touch to schedule these fun opportunities!

Youth Group for middle school and high school will be offered via Zoom, at the regular gathering times. Reach out to Jenn with any questions (jenn@southchurch.com) Youth are invited to share if they need more times to meet and there will be special youth-appropriate activities sent out to the youth groups and to the confirmation class. There’s talk of a Zoom-movie night and maybe even a group Facetime-walk in the next few days - keep an eye out for more information on that!
