The Clan was honored to host our 13th Biannual Gathering on 14 September 2019. Held at the Seven Oaks Hotel in Carlow, we were happy to present our Awards of Appreciation to Desmond Nolan of Galway and Megan Nolan of Waterford. Some of the Nolan's who attended are pictured above.
The 14th Gathering of the Nolan Clan is schedule for 11 September 2021. If you are planning a visit back home to Ireland we hope you will add that date to your plans.
What makes Gatherings interesting is the opportunity to meet people from all over the world who share a connection to the Nolan Clan. We recognize global interconnections. We look into the past and the future across boundaries, frontiers and personal histories.
Send us your suggestions and ideas for our future Gatherings.

The Clans of Ireland had scheduled their annual meeting for 18 April of this year. Today in their St Patrick's Day message they released the following advisory:
Nolan Clan members had planned to attend this April event. We will attend in the future when the event is rescheduled.
The Clans of Ireland website contains valuable information, including a list of links to important resources for research and history.
We were excited to learn that Megan Nolan, a young writer and a Nolan Clan 2019 Honoree, published her thoughts on our 2019 Gathering in a December 2019 issue of The Guardian. Her column including some great photos can be foundhere
By the way, Megan's first novel "Acts of Desperation" is scheduled for publication in 2021 by Jonathan Cape, London.
Desmond Nolan, 2019 Nolan Clan Honoree, with his sister Nuala Nolan at the 2019 Nolan Clan Gathering. We look forward to visiting you in Galway.
You may recall that in our 2016 newsletter we included stories of Nolans who were involved in the 1916-1923 conflicts in Ireland. David Nolan recounted stories of James Nowlan from his grandfather's side of his family. Recently David shared a post about Michael O'Doherty from his grandmother's side of the familiy. Read ithere
and thank you David for letting us post this link.
Our webmaster Roger Nowlan has updated our website nolanfamilies.org
"As of March 2020, the information at the old 2004 version of the NolanFamilies.org website has now been ported over to a series of “Knowledge Bases” (Family Stories, Memorials and Anecdotes) and the user interface much-improved. Also, thanks to the WordPress-based implementation of the new website which makes it more manageable and easily maintainable I can now envision divesting myself of my webmaster duties for the website, tentatively within the next 5 years. By then (2025) I hope to have established a stable working knowledge base infrastructure for the efficient storage and retrieval of Nolan-related historical information and also set up online work processes for generating and refining the information in the knowledge bases."
Roger also issued a call for an expression of interest. PLEASE give this your consideration and refer anyone who could help us to Roger at the website.
To join the Nolan Clan and to renew your membership please fill out the very simple form included in the nolanfamilies.org website here
