HOPE SF Reponse to COVID-19
Support the Partnership for HOPE SF

A message from Theodore Miller,
Director of HOPE SF

Dear Friends,

As our communities grapple with the emerging Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we want you to know that you are not alone. The safety of HOPE SF’s residents, staff members, and partner organizations is our top priority, and we hope that you continue to care for yourselves and loved ones.

We are closely monitoring information about COVID-19 as it evolves, and we are taking action based on guidance from public health experts and community needs. In order to best respond to the emerging needs of our stakeholders, we are shoring up our operations and resources to offer timely information and support, remaining engaged with residents and providers in their communities.

We also understand that our work requires us to maintain and prioritize a racial equity lens in messaging, discussions, practices, and decision-making regarding the pandemic. We reject a practice that further exacerbates the racialized isolation at the root of historically adverse outcomes across HOPE SF communities. While we are not aware of any cases of COVID-19 currently in HOPE SF communities, we know well the disproportionately vulnerable health profile of our families, particularly those of our elders. To this end, we are pulling together as a HOPE SF community, continuing to provide essential food, medical, property management and maintenance, and public safety services through the most recent public orders.

The City’s approach is designed to address community concerns, maintain a safe environment, and slow the spread of the virus to minimize catastrophic impacts on the health of San Francisco residents and visitors, and the health system broadly. Our priority at this time is to support and engage the HOPE SF community, especially residents.
