Three Recommended Podcast Episodes Every Humpday

What will come first - me partaking in a flash mob or you forwarding this email to friends and telling them to click on this link to subscribe?
I found it hard to be witty, charming, and good-looking this past week. Maybe it’s getting over the significant milestone of last week or something else.

So instead of boring you, I give you these links that will do a better job than I could to do to brighten up your day.

All Over The World flash mob. I’ve shared this in the past but it never ceases to turn this clown upside-down.

After I sent that out, my friend Erik sent me this one.

My favorite email newsletter (it can be your second), Goodnewsletter, has 25 Good News Stories Found in the Midst of COVID-19.

If you’ve got a favorite video that is guaranteed to make me (and others) happy, please send it on. I will be happy to hat tip you next week.

Mommy Knows Best

The Skimmer’s Hook: Would your mom speak so highly of you?

Listen if you like: Moms, dangeruss

What’s it like to raise a sports superstar? Thanks to my friends over at Repod, I discovered this podcast hosted by Sonya and Dell Curry, parents of basketball superstar, Steph Curry.

The Currys interview the people who raised sports legends and in this interview, they talk to Tammy Wilson, the mother of Seattle QB, Russell Wilson.

I honestly don’t think you have to care about football or even know who Russell Wilson is to appreciate and enjoy this episode. I loved listening to Tammy talk about her son’s metamorphosis from a little boy to a famous NFL player.

Once you finish listening, watch this video of Russell showing his mom a little appreciation.

Podcast: Raising Fame: Sports Edition - BEYOND BELIEF: Raising Russell Wilson (55 mins) (Scroll down in the player to the episode.)

Darkness on the Edge of Comedy

The Skimmer’s Hook: How funny is death?

Listen if you like: Off-color Humor, Widows, Anthony Jeselnik

At the turn of the new year, I recommended an episode about code-switching, a term I ignorantly had no clue about. As it turns out, I have my own code-switching.

For my closest friends, my sense of humor is entirely different than it is for everyone else. I have no issues saying some f*cked up sh*t. I rarely hold my tongue and there are some lines I will creep up to and then stomp all over. Too-soon jokes though tend to make me a little uncomfortable. That’s not to say I won’t say them but I do draw the line somewhere around there.

Do you enjoy dark humor or would you rather not hear it? Is there a place for dark comedy in today’s world? Learn about this offensive brand of humor and if it’s necessary and why I have a high IQ.

p.s. If you like this type of humor, I’m not sure you can get any darker than Anthony Jeselnik’s Thoughts and Prayers special.

Podcast: Death Is Hilarious - Weird And Widowed: The Necessity of Irreverence and Dark Humor (19 mins)

I’m Going Inside!!!

The Skimmer’s Hook: How much do you hate mosquitos and what are you willing to do about it?

Listen if you like: The Outdoors, Minimizing Annoying Bugs

The stink bugs are out and I don’t like it. I’ve got to kill a bunch of them without crushing them. And if it’s stink bug season, mosquito season is soon to come.

We’ve all had to deal with these tiny vampires. Some people deal with them a lot better than others. Some of you aren’t even bothered at all while most of us are buying every known product to man to let us enjoy our summer barbecues.

How much money do you spend to avoid mosquitos? Just a handful of dollars for some spray or have you invested big bucks on some fancy device?

The question is, do mosquito control devices work?

Podcast: Tiny Vampires - How do mosquito control devices work? Wait, do they work?! (16 mins)

Extra Hot Sauce

Hat tip to two idiots I call friends who told me about a new business podcast dropping tomorrow from Scott Galloway. You can bet this won’t be a boring business podcast based on the trailer. (1 min)

Believe it or not, I haven’t listened to one podcast episode about COVID-19. If you want some guidance, check out this playlist from my friends at the Bello Collective. You’ll also get other great non-coronavirus recommendations.

What’s it like to have your social and entertainment life completely obliterated? I found out last week. This was my experience.
