Rev. Preston Boyd was appointed by Bishop John Franklin White as the third Pastor of Mitcham Chapel AME Church on August 19, 2017. Prior to the appointment at Mitcham Chapel Rev. Preston Boyd was Pastor of Gregg Memorial AME Church where he served from August 23, 2015 – August 19, 2017. Prior to his appointments as pastor, Rev. Boyd was a member of Oak Grove A.M.E. Church, where he served on the ministerial staff.
Pastor Boyd is married to The Rev. Ale Jean Boyd, the love of his life, and they have been married for 41 years. Together, they are working in God’s vineyard doing the work of the one true God who loves us all like no other. Rev. Boyd is a graduate of Ecumenical Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity Degree. Prior to answering his call to enter into the work of the Lord, Pastor Boyd worked for three Fortune 500 Corporations; Ford Motor Credit, Ford Motor Company, and Daimler Trucks North America.
Pastor Boyd has been blessed to study and learn under what he considers two dynamic Pastors in the AME Church, the Rev. Dr. Robert Brumfield at Oak Grove A.M.E., whose preaching and teaching helped awaken the call on his life, and the Rev. Barbara Anthony, founder and Pastor Emerita of Mitcham Chapel AME Church, where under her tutelage he completed his Ministry Practicum in 2015.
