RCC and the COVID-19 crisis
As the COVID-19 situation develops, RCC has been engaged in various preparedness initiatives, such as working from home if required.
RCC offers users services that are predominantly virtual, meaning that for the most part, the effects of COVID-19 on staff location do not change our ability to provide computational, storage and eResearch platforms.
RCC is working with the wider UQ community to ensure our infrastructure is accessible and functional should there be a requirement for us to all work from home.

QURPA 2020: UQ students work on machine learning projects at NCSA
UQ students Edward Davis and Aviral Kailash Jain have reported on their internship earlier this year at the US National Centre for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), located at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Edward used deep learning to analyse gravitational wave data from America’s LIGO detectors and Aviral worked on a machine learning system to help with human activity recognition, specifically, to detect falls.
