Forward Forward
As concerns about the coronavirus mount, we want you to know that we are taking steps to protect your safety while still offering you the benefits of membership.

First, we encourage all regional groups to cancel any programming until your community's public health authorities have given the all-clear. Gather online, flatten the curve, and stay healthy!

Second, we have canceled the JAWS board's annual Spring meeting this year, where we meet to review the organization’s strategic plan and take time to assess the progress of all of our programs. We are now planning to gather virtually over the upcoming weeks and will report back to you on our progress. Planning for CAMP 2020 is still underway.

Third, we invite you to take advantage of our growing digital programs and resources, and those of our partner organizations.
  • We’ve launched a new website that is easier to navigate, and our next Webinar Wednesday,  "The State of - and Starting - A Podcast," will be held on March 25. Register here to learn the basics of just how simple it is to start a podcast - and why creating one today is a fantastic idea.
  • JAWS members can also get full use of the discount code Poynter has created for use on any of their News University e-learning courses. Use the code 19JAWS15 to recieve 15% off on the course of your choice at https://www.poynter.org/newsu/.
  • The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) has released guidelines urging journalists to exercise care in their coverage of the coronavirus outbreak in China to ensure accurate and fair portrayals of Asians and Asian Americans and to avoid fueling xenophobia and racism that have already emerged since the outbreak.
The spread of coronavirus has forced a lot of change quickly for many organizations. We ask that you bear with us through the changes and check in regularly to see how we are evolving to support you and your career under these unusual circumstances.
