Welcome to our Lockdown Newsletter

Hopefully, you are all staying safe and well in these strange times.

I am also hoping that you know about our Online Chat Sessions and Remote Tech Support which replace our "normal" services, in keeping with government guidelines on social distancing.

I also wanted to make sure that we share our news with everyone so if you are not checking our Facebook page or website, then hopefully we'll catch you here!😃

If you have any questions about anything contained in the newsletter or suggestions for future newsletters, please do not hesitate to email.

Thanks

Ken Bridges RIP (1949-2020):

We were saddened by the recent passing of Ken Bridges, one of our Gillespie Crescent stalwarts.  Bob (Sutherland) our Club Facilitator prepared and read the eulogy at his funeral, which you can read, if you are interested. We will all miss him.

Our thoughts are with his wife and family at this sad time.

Coronavirus:

We can't really avoid the "C" word so we have rounded up the websites that provide the most reliable information.  These links are included on our Things to Do page too, under Health, for future reference.

The latest guidance on the Coronavirus can be found on NHS Scotland

If you need additional support take a look at ReadyScotland.org.

However, if you are not finding the help that you need, you can also telephone 0800 111 4000 (a national helpline).

Additionally, if you are unwell, please do telephone your doctor to make an appointment or if you have an appointment just phone before attending to check that they are still expecting you.
Tap into IT AGM:

Our Annual General Meeting this year will be on 10th June, 7-8pm

We are assuming that 'lockdown' restrictions will still apply, so the meeting is online. Please let us know if you can attend, by emailing us, and we'll send you the link.

TECH Poetry

Stewart Conn, a former Makar, kindly wrote Mike a poem as a thank you for helping him out of a tight spot with his printer.

If you'd like to read the poem entitled "Deliverance", you can do so on our website
Things to Do at HOME:

We have created a listing of Things to Do whilst under lockdown, on our website. This includes a diverse range of activities from theatre nights to teach yourself chess online.  The page is updated regularly so why not bookmark it and check back regularly to see what's new.

If you wish to share an activity that isn't listed, but you think may be popular with other members, then please email us with the web link and we will add it to the listing. Thank you.

A bit of Fun:

We asked our members to take part in our #LimerickYourselfChallenge via Facebook in the run up to National Limerick Day (12 May). If you missed this challenge, and would still like to take part, have a look at our website for some inspiration.

Otherwise, please vote for your favourite by emailing us.

Many thanks to those that have taken part in the challenge so far.
