Dear Teachers:
We want to thank everyone, teachers and students alike, for participating in the Birmingham Water Works Board’s school program “A World Without Water.” We very much appreciate all of the schools, and we certainly enjoyed our visits to your classes and presenting to your students.
Due to the school closings ordered by the State of Alabama, we will be extending our deadline for the poster contest to April 22nd, so that the students will have adequate time to create their posters and enter their submissions. This may change should schools not resume classes on April 6th as per current plans.
Out of an abundance of caution, we will be canceling our poster contest awards event at the McWane Science Center, but we will still honor the prizes for winners of the poster contest and plan to deliver the prizes to schools of the respective winners.
While we look forward to our annual school program wrap event, we believe this is the most prudent decision, as the health and safety of you and your students is our utmost priority. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
