Greetings to all

We hope that you all are in good health and coping with this pandemic situation as well as possible.

Our newsletter appears in a new design, because we moved to Mailchimp recently. We would like to thank our member Ashley E. Remer from Girl Museum for implementing this change on a voluntary basis together with us. We hope you will find this new newsletter interesting and clear.

As you all know, we have had to cancel our 2020 Congress in Hittisau. While it is disappointing to not be able to get together and see all of you, we look forward to carrying on our conversations and our committee work later in the year when, hopefully, the situation is settled down.

All the best,
Astrid

International Museums Day

On 18th May 2020 International Museum Day takes place. All over the world museums participate with content and events. This year ICOM has selected a theme that is very close to the heart of many women’s museums: Museums for Equality: Diversity and Inclusion. IAWM members will participate by posting articles, reflections, videos, art positions, and images on social media with the Hashtags #imd2020 and #womensmuseumsforequality.

Women's Museums at Home

Because of the current crises most museums worldwide were forced to keep their doors shut. Therefore we invite you to engage with exhibitions and collections of women’s museums virtually on the IAWM blog. Under the title Women's Museums at Home we shared online exhibitions or virtual views into our member museums worldwide. Take a look here.

Birth Cultures Project

BIRTH CULTURES is a project co-funded by the European Union that contributes to preserve and transmit, through arts and culture, birth and maternity traditional knowledge and practices as part of European intangible cultural heritage. IAWM is collaborating in the project together with our members Interarts (coordinator, Spain), Frauenmuseum Hittisau (Austria), Frauenmuseum Merano (Italy), Gender Museum (Kharkiv) and in association with the European Centre for Cultural Organization and Managment (ECCOM) (Italy) and Birth Café Campaign (Germany), as associated partners. Part of this project is the exhibition BIRTH CULTURES where many other women's museums from all over the world are taking part. Read more about the project here.
