The Latest from our Adopt-a-Road Chair
I was going to send this out a few days ago suggesting that if you were bored, wanted to strangle the kids/grandkids or you partner and with a few good days in site it might be a good time to go out, bend at the waist and pick up some litter. However, with the decision to have the county shelter in place and pressure on the Governor to possibly have the state doing the same it was good that it did not go out.
As you may know Earth Day which is officially on 22 April marking the 50th anniversary of this world event has been postponed. To learn more go to the link at the end of this memo. Based on new guidelines KGB is following KGB & KAB and we are recommending that no litter pickups at this time until further notice.
Most of us are probably bored and tired of watching reruns of whatever show/program. You might want consider taking up a new hobby ie read more, become creative take a milk carton and make a bird house or do what Nancy Fandangle’s (articles in the local paper) does, takes any plastic containers an makes different colored flowers, look around the house/garage to see if you have some wood scrapes are laying around and use you creative juices to make something useful get the kids involved…….send the photo’s to KeepGilmerBeautiful.org the most original & functional wins a $25.00 gift certificate at Long Horn, to be used when the restrictions are lifted and will be selected by the last quarter of 2020, must be made from recycled material.
Our KeepGilmerBeautiful.org web site has been up dated so all one has to do to is hit AdoptARoad go to the far right and hit the status report, complete it and forward. I know some folks don’t like to fill out reports but it is important for all of us to stay on top of this since the county allocates $$ to this group and there has to be accounting for those $$, as well as us maintaining our status with KAB.
On a more serious note our lives and the day to day activities may change for good down the road so be safe, follow the guide lines stated many times by the professionals. Please keep in mind there is always someone is worse condition than you.
Thank you for all that you volunteers do for this county.
Regards,
