Sharing a Note of Encouragement
For Our UNJPPI Work
– Linda Scherziner, member of UNJPPI Coordinating Team
In this time of the Coronavirus emergency, all of our planned outreach, educational and advocacy 'in person' events - whether local, regional or national - have had to be cancelled, or postponed indefinitely. It is frustrating and can be discouraging. Even our annual Regional meetings are being reconsidered and redesigned. This is a time for all of us to be creative and to communicate even more than usual online and to use social media and other webinar resources for meetings, outreach, speakers and other educational events and advocacy. It is a time to connect the Coronavirus emergency with Palestinians.
"In this difficult time, though we are all having to adapt to the new conditions we find ourselves in, we are also in many ways having to continue with the reality of daily life. Let’s not forget that, for the Palestinian people, daily life means a regime of racism, military occupation and apartheid. And this brutal system of oppression means that the Palestinian people are facing a myriad of challenges in coping with the devastating impact of Coronavirus."
This excerpt from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign in the UK reminded me that our work is not and cannot be stopped even though we are maintaining 'social distance' and our lives are being changed/impacted drastically. This pandemic poses a challenge to carry on locally, regionally and nationally, in creative ways of connecting with what is happening to our lives, to those around the world and especially to Palestinians as we communicate with each other, supporters and potential supporters at this time. How can UNJPPI help you in your advocacy work? We invite you to connect with UNJPPI with your ideas or questions as we endeavour to continue our advocacy work.
