YMCC Hockey Club Statement regarding COVID-19

To our valued and amazing YMCC community,

YMCC Hockey Club continues to provide our members with updates regarding the COVID-19 pandemic as we consider new advice from our relevant governing bodies such as Hockey WA (HWA), Hockey Australia and both Federal and State Governments.

We will continue to provide our updates via email, our Facebook page and the YM website.

More stringent and wide-ranging measures have been put in place by the State and Federal Governments in recent days.  As you are no doubt aware the pandemic is growing and the strategies being put in place by our Government requires us all to isolate to prevent the spread of this virus, flatten the curve and support our amazing essential workers, some of which are our own players, coaches, parents and volunteers.  On behalf of us all here at YM, thank you so much.

Hockey WA will be hosting a series of on-line meetings with all club presidents commencing on Monday 30th March 2020.  The purpose of these meetings is to discuss the on-going work being undertaken by Hockey WA and to give clubs, like ourselves, the opportunity to provide feedback to HWA regarding the financial and social impact on us as a result in the delay, or otherwise, of this hockey season.  We will communicate back to you the result of these meetings.

The delay to the season has brought many unique challenges to the Club and its members.  There have been a number of questions about membership fees, amongst other things, but the financial and economic consequence of the delay to the Club still needs time for the Board to work through.  The COVID-19 situation continues to evolve and change rapidly.  A decision on registration fees will be made once a full understanding of the impact of COVID-19 is available.  It is important to note that the season has been delayed and not cancelled. Some members have reached out and we are working out a solution.

Never forget that we are a family club and I ask that you reach out if you need help and to offer help to others in the club, if you can, during these very strange times.

We will get through this.  We will grow stronger together.  We will play hockey.  We will win.  Go the Y!

On behalf of the YM Committee, our best wishes to you all, please look after your health and well-being during this time.

Regards,
Enzo Evangelista
President YMCA Coastal City Hockey Club
