March Update from AAA Play

It is hard to believe how much the world has changed since the last time we sent out a monthly update from AAA Play HQ. Before the COVID-19 pandemic impacted all of our lives so drastically, we were excited about all the programs that were getting up and running and looking forward to the beginning of the winter sports season.

Now, many, if not all, of those sports are postponed, (with very good reason) and we are sending the newsletter from our home offices. That doesn't mean there isn't still plenty happening though. It is so heartening to see how many of our wonderful partners have adapted so quickly to the new environment we find ourselves in. There are webinars, easy English guides to help everyone get through the crisis, and HEAPS of activities you can do in your home to stay physically and mentally fit, even if you can't leave the house. See our list of resources here

We also want to take a minute, like many others, to say thank you to our very engaged and active community for staying so strong in this very difficult time. Although we must be physically isolated, we must also stay connected as much as possible. AAA Play is still here, answering the phone and emails if anyone is in need of support, resources, or just a chat.

Finally, a call out. If you know of any awesome resources or programs that are online and accessible for people to do in their homes, please email request@aaavic.org.au and we can spread the word, to make sure everyone has plenty to keep them active and engaged.
In the Spotlight

AAA Play list of resources for people with disability during the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have compiled a list of resources regarding the coronavirus for people with disability here, and are updating it as we get more information and resources from our fantastic partners.

There are Easy English guides, social stories, links to all the relevant government agencies, including the DHHS, VicHealth, and the NDIS, and a short summary of some workouts and activities that you can do in your own home.

If you think we have missed anything, or you would like information on something more specific, please get in contact at request@aaavic.org.au.
