On the COVID-19 crisis and the people's right to food, health, livelihood

People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS) and Pesticide Action Network Asia Pacific (PANAP) jointly call on governments to exert all efforts to ensure the food security of the people, especially those from the most vulnerable sectors that suffer magnified effects from the pandemic.

The potential surge to food prices, vulnerability due to lack of access basic social services and protection, and the efforts by authoritarian regimes to use the COVID-19 to legitimize and introduce more repressive actions and policies against the people are some of the threats that need to be addressed immediately.

Day of the Landless 2020:
Landless peoples of the world, rise!

On the 6th year of commemorating the Day of the Landless, PCFS highlights the landless – including agricultural workers, contract farmers, rural women and youth, Indigenous Peoples, Dalits, and other marginalized sectors – in a global economy dipping into recession as a global pandemic and overproduction in oil trigger the weaknesses of a globalized neoliberal economy.
