We write to you during this difficult time to address the extraordinary challenges facing the health and wellness of our global community. To mitigate the risk associated with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the decision has been made to refrain from hosting a global gathering in 2020.
FIRST Global is developing a plan to keep our teams and our extended community of sponsors, supporters and volunteers engaged and connected until we can safely gather together. And, following our tradition of doing more each year, that future gathering will be larger than any previous gathering of FIRST Global!
It is now more important than ever to focus our energy on inspiring students world-wide to pursue education and careers in science, engineering and technology. In doing so, your collective efforts will inspire others, deliver a message of hope and illustrate the potential for international cooperation. With each nation’s individual efforts, as a unified body we continue FIRST Global’s mission. Through our collective actions we transform these challenges into opportunities to share the great work we have all done, and continue to do.
While we each have a personal responsibility to lessen the spread and impact of COVID-19, we should all take comfort in knowing that we will soon refocus our collective efforts on our unwavering, long-term commitment to accelerate the spread of the FIRST Global vision and impact around the globe. We hope to soon be announcing the details of that inspiring and fun process as we plan for the 2021 FIRST Global Challenge.
