FEDERAL UPDATE
______________________________
Prime Minister Trudeau announced further details on the wage subsidy program that was announced on Friday. We now know that any company, regardless of size and number of employees, that have lost 30% of their revenue because of COVID-19 qualify for the 75% wage subsidy program. This will include both non-profits and charities and all payments will be backdated to March 15th. More details will be coming, but this is great news for those businesses that have struggled since this pandemic started.

PROVINCIAL UPDATE
______________________________
Premier Ford was visibly shaken as he delivered his message to the province today. After watching a weekend with nice weather and some packed streets, he stressed that we must all do our part in helping prevent the spread of COVID-19. This is especially true when it comes to our seniors and those in long-term care facilities. Both the Premier and Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health are strongly recommending that those with underlying medical conditions and individuals over 70 years of age self-isolate. They also wanted to remind everyone to only leave their homes to:
- Access health care services;
- Shop for groceries;
- Pick-up medication at the pharmacy;
- Walk pets when required; and
- Support vulnerable community members with meeting the above needs.
Premiere Ford also announced that the government is extending the state of emergency for two weeks, and will re-evaluate the situation again at that time. The more we work together and follow the guidelines set out by medical professionals, the sooner we’ll be able to come through this.

TACKLING POTHOLES
______________________________
While we take all measures to flatten the curve and helps all residents cope with COVID-19, city business must go on. Which leads to some good news on the pothole front, the city has just received 4 Python 5000s! These single person operated machines are absolutely amazing and will make a big contribution to the safety of the men and women working on our roads. I’m happy to see these machines finally in our hands, and to see what these machines are like please check out this video.

MAKE SOME NOISE
______________________________
A quick reminder, we will be showing some love and support to all our healthcare and essential workers on Wednesday! You can grab a pot, a pan, an instrument, or just shout from your door step but I want you all to join me in making some noise at 6:30pm to celebrate the heroes that are protecting us and keeping our community going. You can check out the Facebook event, but for those of you who don’t have it, I still hope you can join me on April 1st!
