About MS & Autoimmune Disorder Strategies
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune, neurodegenerative disorder in which the immune system loses self-tolerance and begins to attack nervous tissue by way of autoantibodies and T-cells. The afflicted tissue in MS, now recognized as a foreign invader by the immune system, is the protective covering (myelin sheath) that surrounds the nerves of the brain and spinal cord, collectively known as the central nervous system (CNS). Destruction of the myelin sheath can present as several forms of neurological dysfunction (i.e. muscle weakness, altered sensation, bowel dysfunction, etc.), due to impaired communication between the brain and other body systems....
