King of the World is a short (10-minute) film about a teenager living with bipolar disorder. C. J., a senior in high school, has been managing well with daily medications and lifestyle modifications. After being cast in the leading role for a school movie production, he begins to cycle into a manic phase. His friends become worried and try to help. C.J.’s story raises awareness about bipolar disorder and emphasizes the importance of peer and family support for those living with a mental illness.
King of the World is the glowmedia project's fifth film in its collection of shorts addressing various mental health topics. Using film, music and a fresh approach that appeals to today’s kids, glowmedia’s films and accompanying education guides provide teachers and parents/guardians with a new, relatable way to understand and address teen mental health.
