ALDA Moves Online
Response to COVID-19

Although unable to hold the Spring Meeting and other events in-person due to the COVID-19 outbreak, ALDA has moved several events online and rescheduled others for the Fall.

The Annual Meeting for Marketing & Sales Executives, scheduled for March 10, has been rescheduled as a series of webinars.  The first webinar, featuring Matt Greenstein of The Alexander Group, was held on Friday, March 20, with the next two webinars set for April 3 and 10, featuring Paul Rhoda - Vice President of Revenue Partner, and Kristin Apple, President of The Linus Group, respectively.  All members of ALDA are welcome to participate and there is no registration fee or cost.

If these webinars are well received, we may offer additional webinars, especially for functional executives and emerging company leaders.

ALDA also has launched two online collaboratives, one directed to leaders of ALDA members’ Operations teams and the other to Human Resources leaders, as our industry pivots to deal with COVID-19 related issues.  Open to all ALDA members at no cost, the collaborative meetings held their first online gatherings on March 25, each with more than 30 executives discussing the latest trends, experiences and learnings.  The next meetings for both collaboratives will be held on Wednesday, April 1  See related article.

ALDA also is developing a resource page on our website dedicated to COVID-19, including information about the above groups as well as other resources that our members may find useful. We will continue to update this resource page to keep it relevant to our members. If you have any resources you would like to share, please email covid19@thealda.org.

Meanwhile three events have are being rescheduled for the Fall.
1.  Our ALDA Spring Meeting program on AI is being moved to
the Fall Conference on October 4-6.
2.  Our Breakfast for ALDA members attending Analytica 2020 in Munich will be held on October 21, with Professor John Rossen as our guest speaker.
3.  Our March 18 Dinner in Menlo Park with Stanford Professor Stephen Quake will be rescheduled for a Fall date.

The Breakfast planned for April 19 at ECCMID (European Conference on Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) 2020 has been canceled. ALDA will hold a Breakfast for its members at ECCMID 2021 on April 11 in Vienna, Austria.
ALDA Forms Collaboratives to Respond to COVID-19

ALDA has formed two collaboratives, composed of ALDA Member executives, to respond to the COVID-19 crisis and the resulting impact on our members and their businesses.  The two collaboratives - one directed to the leaders of our members’ Operations teams and the other to the Human Resources leaders are designed to provide a forum for our members to discuss trends and common business issues, and share experiences, insights and best practices.

Both Collaboratives held their first meeting on March 25. The Operations Collaborative drew 39 attendees and focused on Shelter-In-Place and what companies are seeing at the state level in California and how Bay Area facilities are dealing with Shelter-in-Place policies and requirements at their locations, including what businesses and employees can still operate within those guidelines. Also discussed were sources of information on similar S-I-P orders in other states and the treatment of essential businesses.

The April 1 online gathering will examine how companies are dealing with Outbound Logistics and product service and support executives performing service and maintenance at customer sites, as well as continuing to discuss the changing dynamics of Shelter-in-Place on ALDA members’ operations.

More than 30 executives also participated in the Human Resources Collaborative. The agenda focused on benchmarking and policies to deal with COVID-19 issues including Shelter-in-Place, modifying business targets and goals, managing staffing levels and work schedules, and emergency sick leave.

Attendees at the March 25 Collaborative are currently being surveyed on agenda topics for the April 1 meeting.

The Operations Collaborative will meet online each Wednesday at 11:00 AM EDT. Click HERE to register. The Human Resources Collaborative will take place two hours later at 1:00 PM.  Click HERE to register for the HR Collaborative.

We welcome and urge your company to participate in either or both Collaboratives. Please contact Carol Starke at CStarke.thealda.org for more information.
Marketing & Sales Webinar Set for April 3
Leadership and Development in Response to COVID-19

ALDA’s second webinar from the recently canceled Marketing & Sales Meeting will be held on Friday, April 3, at 11:00 AM, Eastern Daylight Time,

Paul Rhoda, Vice President, Client Executive of Revenue Partner, will lead the webinar.  Mr. Rhoda was originally scheduled to speak on best practices for recruiting, training and retaining top marketing and sales leadership amid the significant changes taking place in B2B buying and Digital’s transformational influence on marketing and sales.

However, as a result of the global COVID-19 outbreak, we have updated his presentation to address leadership and development in response to the coronavirus crisis.  A better title for his revised presentation may be “Growing Revenues Virtually - How the COVID-19 Crisis Will Change the Way We Lead and Learn in a Virtually Restricted World.”

If you were registered for the March 10 Meeting, you will automatically receive a link to the April 3 webinar.

Please contact Carol Starke at CStarke@thealda.org if you were not registered for the March 10 Meeting and would like to participate in the webinar.  All ALDA members are welcome to participate and there is no registration fee or cost.

For your calendar, our next Marketing & Sales webinar will be held on April 10.  Kristin Apple, President of The Linus Group, will present the highlights of their recent in-depth study of Gen Z and offer insights on on how Gen Zers will impact marketing and sales both as suppliers and customers.
