SUPPORT THE PERFORMANCE GARAGE

The Performance Garage is Philadelphia’s home for dance. As a key driver in the creative economy of Philadelphia, the impact of coronavirus on the entire dance ecosystem is felt throughout the Performance Garage. In addition to the loss of earned revenue related to our subsidized studio rentals, this closure has meant that the artists who utilize our space to teach classes and perform are also losing the income that they derive from those activities. As a non-union, non-university affiliated dance space, the Performance Garage is unique in Philadelphia as we strive to provide professional and accessible space for dance artists of all genres and styles.

We anticipate significant ripple effects caused by our closure. We’ve already had artists postpone and/or cancel classes and performances. This lost revenue is irreplaceable and will be felt most dramatically by dance artists whose livelihoods are often tied to their ability to teach and perform. We will need help during this period, however, we anticipate recovering from this closure. That said, we know that the impact on the dance artists who call our space home will be both long-lasting and deeply felt.

As we continue our work and look forward to reopening, we hope that you will consider a fully tax-deductible donation to the Performance Garage. As you may have read the CARES Act provides special one-time benefits for donating to non-profit organizations. Thank you for your continued support.
