Churches around the world say, “this is a time to touch each other’s hearts”

The heads of ecumenical organisations from all global regions have come together to say “this is a time for pastoral, prophetic and practical Christianity” amidst COVID-19 crisis. CEC as part of the the Regional Ecumenical Organisations (REOs) together with the World Council of Churches (WCC) has issued a joint statement. Read more

Klima-Kollekte recognises CEC efforts for CO2 compensation

Klima-Kollekte, a carbon offset fund of Christian churches has officially recognised CEC’s efforts for CO2 compensation in its activities for 2019. “The climate protection contributions dispersed through KlimaKollekte support people in countries of the Global South, who are particularly affected by climate change,” said Rev. Dr Peter Pavlovic, CEC Study Secretary. Read more

Romanian Orthodox Church provides support during COVID-19 health crisis

The Romanian Orthodox Churches has intensified its efforts and online presence amidst COVID-19. Throughout the country, parishes, monasteries, bishops and archbishops are offering spiritual support but also hot food for medical and health workers, the elderly, the low-income and the quarantined. Several dioceses have donated medical equipment to hospitals, supporting fundraising efforts. Read more (in Romanian)

French churches offer support on phone

The Union of Protestant Churches in Alsace and Lorraine (UEPAL) with their initiative "Ecout’aumônerie" through a toll-free number has made chaplains and pastors available to all patients in hospitals or in nursing homes, their families and all those, who feel the need to talk, offering counselling and spiritual support. The Assembly of the European Christian Environmental Network (ECEN) addressing the theme “Reconciled with creation: a call for urgent action on climate and biodiversity” will be held from 29 August to 2 September 2020 at the Evangelical Academy Bad Herrenalb, Germany. Read more

European Regional Pre-Assembly for WCC 11th Assembly

CEC, as regional ecumenical organisation (REO), cooperating with the World Council of Churches (WCC), will hold the European Regional Pre-Assembly ahead of the WCC 11th General Assembly. The Pre-Assembly will take place from 18 to 20 February 2021 in Warsaw, Poland, in cooperation with the Polish Ecumenical Council. Read more
