LATEST NEWS
  • Distancing. We observed two young girls from different families walking together yesterday. This is not acceptable as stated by the Government:
One form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle - alone or with members of your household.
  • We all need to play our part and stop virus from spreading. Please assume EVERYONE is infectious even if they don't have symptoms. This will save lives.
  • The Blandford Blackfly season has started. Bites can be serious. Information from Deddington Health Centre can be seen HERE
  •  Your Council are meeting online regularly so if you have any questions or concerns about the current situation or village life then use the email addresses below
  • Dental service news. All dentists have been told to stop routine, non-urgent dental care including orthodontics. Emergency services will continue.

Any comments/suggestions/concerns please email us at:
AYNHO COMMUNITY CONNECT
  • We have received a fantastic local response for volunteers so thank you for all who have completed the Household data form. PLEASE COMPLETE EVEN IF YOU DON'T NEED HELP RIGHT NOW (YOU MIGHT) OR IF YOU CANNOT OFFER SUPPORT AS WE WOULD LIKE  TO ENABLE COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS BEYOND THE CURRENT CRISIS.  The online version is HERE
  • We have added over 30 new subscribers to this newsletter via direct requests from the Community Facebook page or from the Household data form.  To ensure we comply with GDPR please UNSUBSCRIBE via the link below if you do not wish to receive these updates.
  • There are other volunteer schemes being announced such as South Northamptonshire and NHS).  We do not plan to register for these as a Council at this stage but feel free to do so as individuals if you want to offer help to a wider geography or ways that require formal checks such as DBS certificates.
  • For those helping local residents the Government guidance on How to Help Safely can be seen HERE
NHS111 CORONAVIRUS SERVICE
This service asks a few questions to determine the likelihood of any symptoms you may have being caused by Coronavirus. A key questions is about the type of cough and defines a new cough as:
New: means a cough that you've not had before, or if you usually have a cough, it's got worse.
Continuous: means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours.
ISOLATION NOTES
To reduce the burden on GP practices a new online system, created by the NHS and the Department for Work and Pensions, is now live for patients to be emailed a digital isolation note. Isolation notes provide patients with evidence for their employers that they have been advised to self-isolate due to coronavirus, either because they have symptoms or they live with someone who has symptoms, and so cannot work. As isolation notes can be obtained without contacting a doctor, this will reduce the pressure on GP surgeries and prevent people needing to leave their homes. The notes can be accessed through the NHS website and NHS 111 online. After answering a few questions, an isolation note will be emailed to the user. If they don’t have an email address, they can have the note sent to a trusted family member or friend, or directly to their employer. The service can also be used to generate an isolation note on behalf of someone else.”

POLICE and 111
As concerns over Covid-19 increase, members of the public are reminded of the need to only use the 999 or 101 service where it is absolutely necessary, and to otherwise use the online reporting systems in place. While the Force continues to deal with Covid-19 and understand the detail of the Prime Ministers announcement, the force is urging people to head online to report non-emergency incidents and crimes.
If the 101 call isn't urgent, people should use the online forms available at www.northants.police.uk. The public can help reduce wait times by going digital, and thereby free up 999 and 101 for people who really need to speak to the police.
MEDICATION COLLECTIONS
We can confirm that if you have a repeat prescription from Deddington Health Centre
that is usually delivered then this service will continue.

We are making regular trips to local surgeries and many of our volunteers are offering to pick up medicines. Please contact Andy Anderson, our Aynho Connect Coordinator, who will be putting volunteers in touch with anyone who needs medication collected. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT PHARMACIES NEED A WEEKS NOTICE TO PROVIDE MEDICATION NOT ON FORMAL REPEAT PRESCRIPTION.

Bin collections are continuing by South Northants, not Cherwell Council as stated incorrectly.
We have some comments about the advice provided on reducing the risks or symptoms of viral illness including Covid 19.
One study published in 2008 concluded  "..the results support the folklore that a hot tasty drink is a beneficial treatment for relief of most symptoms of common cold and flu."
The information we provided was not extensively validated but did come from an NHS source. To be clear on two points:
  • Holding your breath for 10 seconds without coughing does not mean you are clear of the virus. If, however, you have any breathing difficulties such as being unable to do this as described you should obtain medical advice urgently.
  • Drinking water every 15 minutes does not physically wash away the virus from inside cells but continued hydration is important to support the immune system and does no harm.
