The Fluvanna SPCA shelter building is currently closed to the public.
We are working to do our part to help cut down on the spread of COVID-19, and with our animals' and employees' best interests in mind, we are trying to reduce foot traffic to help keep our employees healthy. The animals at the shelter will continue to receive wonderful care just as they normally do, so no need to worry.
If you are interested in adopting, fostering, or if you would like to drop off donations during this time, you can make an appointment to do so by contacting our shelter manager: manager@fspca.org.
We appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult time for everyone, and we will be sure to keep you updated as soon as we will be open again to the public.

DID YOU KNOW?
- Last month 30 animals found their forever homes, 11 were reunited with loving families, and 10 were transferred to wonderful rescue partners--a total of 51 animals with a second chance. Your shares, donations, and volunteer hours help to make these happy new beginnings possible. Thank you all!
- Our Lonely Heart’s Club pets (animals at the shelter more than 6 months) have low adoption fees of just $20! We currently have 7 pets in the club--available cuties are: Brent, Mr. Tiggs, Chuckles, Shiloh, Hollar, Killian, and Naia . Please share their photos and stories, to help them find the forever homes they’re waiting and wishing for.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
- The shelter is currently in need of Purina chow for dogs, cats, kittens and puppies, canned cat and kitten food and pellet litter. You can view and order from our Amazon Wishlist. Remember to go through Amazon Smile to increase your donation. Thank you all for your generous donations!

- Fostering! We are always in need of caring fosters, and now more than ever! We currently have 10 dogs and 7 cats that can still be fostered and/or adopted that are still at the shelter. For more information, please call us at 434-591-0123. Learn more here: http://fspca.org/foster.html .

There is still time to make your donation go twice as far in March! One big way to help or furry friends currently--consider a donation to the ongoing “Raise the Roof" Capital Campaign! We’ve received a generous offer from a Fluvanna family to match up to $3,000 of donations made to our capital campaign during the month of March, to help us move closer to our $30,000 fundraising goal! Funds will be used to help make necessary improvements to the shelter facility in order to continue to provide the best care for the animals in need in Fluvanna County.

Are you filing your taxes through H&R Block? If so, for each new client our organization refers to them, they will provide a $20 reward to our shelter!
All you have to do is take the flyer provided below to any H&R Block location while you file and they will use our special code to donate $20 to our shelter at no additional cost to you. If you are not planning on going to H&R, you can still help by sharing the form and encouraging others to bring the form when they have their taxes prepared. There is no limit to the number of referrals an organization can generate.

Keep an eye on our website and social media pages! Coming in April we will have a fun new incentive for donations to our Raise the Roof Capital Campaign. There is still time to have your donations for March matched up to $3000!

PUPDATES! Meet sweet Stanley, the recent 97CYK Rescue Pet of the Week! Stanley came in as a stray, so we don't know his history, but we've learned he gets along with people and cats. He hasn't been tested yet with other dogs, so a doggy "meet and greet" is recommended if there are other pups in a prospective adoptive home. Stanley will need some help with housebreaking habits, but is sure to shower you with love, in return for a loving home.

KITTY TALES! Have some extra feline foster or forever love to share? Meet Garfeild! Garfeild is very friendly and hasn’t a care in the world (except hoping for a forever family of course)--he loves attention and will talk to you when he needs something. He came to the shelter as a stray, so we do not have any background on him. Garfeild is up to date on age appropriate vaccines and preventatives, neutered and microchipped. You can meet big boy Garfeild by visiting our friends at Petsmart 425 Merchant Walk Square, Charlottesville,Va 22902.
By the way, March 28th is “Respect Your Cat Day,” but cats say that is every day, and they’re right!

PAWESOME THANKS TO:
- Thankful for our Rescue Partners! In June, 10 waiting pets were transferred to rescue partners. Thank you to: Peaceful Passings, Animal Care Assistance Program, Green Dogs Unleashed and RSPCA.
- The March Petsmart Adoption event was great! The staff at Petsmart were so nice and welcoming. Many thanks to Karyn, store manager, volunteers, Amy and Sophia, Jen and Ari and Pam and Kate. We brought a car full of cat and dog food donations to the shelter! Thank you!
- A big thank you to Trista, from Ring Dog Rescue, who came to meet and evaluate Rocko
- Thankful for wonderful community partners, like our friends at Virginia Institute of Autism.

FOREVER HOMES <3 In search of Forever. Meet sweet 5-year-old Dobby!
Dobby is very sweet and loves attention from everyone. He came into the shelter as a stray, and no owner ever came forward. Dobby is Lyme positive, and is current on all vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.
Dobby is a friendly happy hound boy who would love to go hiking with you! If you like to pet soft ears, he has them! Interested in meeting Dobby and perhaps giving him a loving home to call his very own Forever? Call the shelter to set up an appointment. He can’t wait to meet you!
