The COVID19 causes everyone to adjust their lifestyle, schedules and usual ways of doing things. For the safety of our people and following the guidelines of CDC and our church leadership we canceled all the events that would bring even a small number people together. We will still conduct our Church Services however people will only be able to follow the services online. We are applying the same principle to our Bible Studies.

Bp Daniel prayer

During a Walk in the Woods, Bishop Daniel Offers Words of Comfort

Bishop Daniel offered a special message to the faithful this week, addressing the personal anxieties that many people are feeling in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Inspired to record the informal video message during a solitary walk through a wooded park, Bishop Daniel reflects on the spirit of uncertainty, fear, and loneliness that prevails in this time. The antidote to such concerns, he says, lies in Christ’s emphasis on faith in a loving God. That faith is not a false hope or sentimental feeling; it is rather a divine power that dispels fear, and gives us confidence to face life’s challenges. In times of uncertainty, “love never fails.”

HHK2, Day of Prayer (coronavirus)

Mother See Leads Faithful Across the World in Healing Prayers

“My dear children, while you are in self-isolation, know that you are not alone.”

The words were spoken by His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, as he presided over a very special prayer service in the ancient monastery of St. Gayane. The occasion was March 18, 2020: a “Day of Prayer” for the worldwide Armenian Church, which the Catholicos had announced only days before in an appeal on the measures to be taken by the church to help combat the Coronavirus pandemic.

In his message to the faithful, His Holiness said: “At this moment, all of our people—lay and clergy, young and old, every faithful soul in his own solitary place—we are all offering a prayer to heaven for the recovery of the sick, for the perseverance the isolated, for the protection of our lives, all under the watchful gaze of a merciful God. On this national Day of Prayer, we have no doubt that our tender Lord will hear our plea. Even with our physical bodies separated from one another, the sweet voice of prayer makes us united as one nation: as a people of God.”

He concluded: “Children, keep strong your hope, keep unshaken your faith. Fortify your spirit of prayerful repentance, and your loving care for one another—and God will help us overcome the present hardship. The greatest harm in life comes from indifference and neglect; but no danger is insurmountable when we show care and support for each other.” (Click on the following links to read more in Armenian.)

While the sanctuary was empty of worshippers due to the requirements to avoid public gatherings of any kind, the service was broadcast live over the Internet and seen by church members across the world. As clocks struck 7 p.m. in each time zone, local Armenian faithful added their voices to the “Day of Prayer" throughout the 24-hour cycle of March 18.

In the Eastern Diocese, Primate Bishop Daniel authorized a special prayer for the occasion, with texts in English, Western Armenian, and Eastern Armenian, which people could recite from their own homes.

At Holy Etchmiadzin in the days following, clergy from the monastic brotherhood have continued to offer prayers of healing in this time of crisis, as documented in an artfully filmed video. Click here to watch, listen, and pray along.

Sunday of Advent

The Sixth Sunday of Great Lent is called the Sunday of Advent. This Sunday teaches us about the first Advent of Christ – His Incarnation: His Holy Birth when God became Man. This proved the Truth found in the Scriptures that by the coming of the Savior, a second chance was given to mankind to be guided on the path leading towards salvation.

This Sunday also symbolizes the Second Advent. In the Gospels and Apostolic Letters there are many references dedicated to the Second Advent, where our Lord warns us about His return. In the Gospel of St. Matthew, Christ says, “…Watch out and do not let anyone fool you. Many men, claiming to speak for me, will come and say, “I am the Messiah!” and they will fool many people. You are going to hear the noise of battles close by and the news of battles far away… Countries will fight each other; kingdoms will attack one another. There will be famines and earthquakes everywhere… And you will be hated by all nations for my Name’s sake… Many false prophets will appear and fool many people. Such will be the spread of evil that many people’s love will grow cold. But whoever holds out to the end will be saved” (Mt 24:4-13).

The message of this Sunday is a call for endurance, piety and modesty. Through these we can patiently wait for the Glorious Resurrection of Christ, the purification of our souls and the triumph of the True Faith. All Christian Churches celebrate the feast of the Sunday of Advent.
