Letter from our
Executive Director

Horizon Housing Foundation has made the strategic decision to pivot our standard social service efforts temporarily to help residents of affordable housing properties with their most basic needs in response to this crisis. We recognize at this time our focus needs to be on helping residents with food insecurities and aid with continued learning while children are out of school. Our hope is that soon enough we can resume after-school programs, healthy cooking classes, and exercise programs, when it is safe to do so.

Horizon Housing Foundation has made some early efforts in Colorado and Missouri focused around food support and essential needs.  In the St. Louis and Kansas City metro areas, HHF has connected with local food partners to get residents access to a nutritious meal.  In Loveland, Colorado, HHF is funding care packages that our partner Aspire 3D is assembling for residents with basic essentials.  Additionally, HHF is coordinating children’s book giveaways for residents to encourage the kids at the property to keep learning even when schools are closed.

During these challenging and unique times we want our affordable housing partners to know we are here to help residents. Please reach out to us with any ideas you may have to help residents get through this tough stretch. Horizon is open to unique and creative solutions to meet the needs of the residents we serve, and if you have any ideas of services please contact us.

Sincerely,

Dan Lee - Executive Director

Additionally, on the The World Health Organization website you can find basic Q&A on coronaviruses (COVID-19) like:

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don't feel unwell. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment. Around 1 out of every 6 people who gets COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness. People with fever, cough and difficulty breathing should seek medical attention.
