Welcome to the Hearts On Fiber Newsletter
If you are new to our weekly newsletters, here is some information about us. We have added all our past newsletters to our blog just in case you deleted it by accident, like dropping a stitch but much easier to pick up.

How are you?

I have allergies, and everything is blooming. Spring clearly is a jerk.

I also have General Anxiety Disorder. This strange new world we're living in can send anyone over the edge. It's stressful, and we are having to adapt quickly.

Loss of jobs, uncertainty, feeling constrained, worry about us, worry about our loved ones, and an overwhelming amount of fear can make our brain do strange things.

Anxiety is our brain telling us we're in danger, and you need to survive, but a bear is not chasing us. So we buy all the toilet paper and bread. We hoard, we panic, we make up some amazingly scary stories that are typically not true.

I spiraled quickly, I became unreasonable, obsessive, and stuck in my brain. The what if's, and knee jerk reactions were strong. Anxiety quickly became depression.

Anxiety and depression make up the best stories. They lie better than my 15-year-old when she doesn't want to clean her room. And I believe them because that's what happens when you have depression.

So I made pom-poms. You read that right. I made pom-poms, and I glued them on a stick. Then I put them outside the shop.

As I was making my pom-pom flowers, I relaxed. I could breathe, and I was able to shift my thoughts. At this moment I'm fine. I'm more than fine. I am in a place that most people would love to be. I'm quarantined in a craft store with my family!

I'm going to make more pom-poms flowers. I think Davidson needs it.

I also decided to crochet some flowers. I think I'm going to yarn bomb the dumpster gate. For some reason that makes me smile.

I hope you can find something that makes you smile too. Please take care of yourself!

Shop updates

Like all nonessential businesses, we closed to the public. I know, yarn is clearly essential. I don’t understand why yarn stores aren’t on this list. You should be able to get food, get gas, and get yarn. Seriously we need some more crafters that make the rules.

All kidding aside, we are here in the store to fill orders. If you are picking them up, we put your package on the table with a bottle of hand sanitizer.

Our website now has everything on it that our store does. The categories are a bit messy, and some products don’t have pictures. It’s all there, though.

We also have Zoom appointments to help you pick out yarn. You can email me or call the store. Leave a message if we don’t answer. We’ll call back. I’m also available to chat on social media. So many options!

We have made shipping free on our site. I know I’m so generous. But the main reason is that I couldn’t figure out how to charge the right amount for shipping on our website, so instead of wasting hours, I made shipping free. Yay, you!

Little Stubbies Party!

We haven't forgotten about this. We are in the process of transforming the front of our store with all the Little Stubby Submissions.

We have figured out how to vote online. We hope to have it up by next week sometime. We will still have fun virtually, right?

This is going to be fun!

SWAG

Anyone who submitted a project gets a Little Stubby T-shirt and stickers.

We have extras, though!

Buy a T-shirt get a set of adorable holographic stickers for free! (while supplies last, of course)
I have been spinning yarn since last August. I find it so soothing. When stress or anxiety hits, if I can spin, it helps so much. It's like my brain can't think if it's peddling and drafting at the same time. It's nice.

I wanted to learn how to Fractal Spin. I decide to use up extra dyes that I had in Little Stubby colors. Here is the result. It's so beautiful I can't even believe I did it.

Should I make it into something? I'm conflicted!
This is Winston.

He is almost two years old. He is hilarious.

He seems to know the exact right time that we need to smile.

He's our special weirdo. I hope you have a special weirdo too.
