Turn Me to Gold: 108 Poems of Hafiz

Like all of us, I am learning lessons from the coronavirus with which we all are living, and some of us are dying. These lessons might lurk slightly under our consciousness, or blast us fully in our face.

Now, while time (more) and space (less) seem important, they are not. We are asked now to perceive what is not bound by time or space: this virus and what it teaches us. As ever, metaphors abound. And while we human expressions of consciousness, being all too human, seem to need physical and material lessons, the real lessons transcend these limitations.

Please consider these possible lessons:

1 Gratitude for what we are and have in this present moment.

2 When something physical can have no boundaries; imagine the non-physical's immense and profound power.

3 As always, when the outside is heightened - we think we need to know what is going on in the world (the media scream at us to listen) - the inside is yet again the most valuable.

4 We humans are given time and space to listen to the inside, who we are.

5 We first find our emotions - now often fear and longing - the always changing.

6 Then, underneath, we find our true nature - suddenly exposed and available - the never changing.

7 We uncover (they have been here all the time) the sweet and powerful qualities of existence and consciousness, who and what we really are.

8 We perceive ourselves newly, as all creation adjusts naturally to the available but limited sustaining resources.

Please add your own lessons.

A list of its own: Make Art!

And please stay in touch, in safe ways. Listen to the voices of compassion speaking as never before, our spiritual teachers, known and new, across the world and across the street, who are addressing our living with the virus. On YouTube.
