COVID-19 UPDATE
There has been a huge amount of resilience shown throughout the long, and in a lot of cases, ongoing drought, and no doubt everyone wasn’t expecting the additional challenges that we may face in the coming months to ensure business can continue to function well.

PSS Ag is generally a business that manages to function well without any major interaction of larger gatherings of people, and we are very well equipped with parts and our supply chain to different areas, though we believe we won’t have the luxury of trickle feeding our warehouse to keep it topped up. There will need to be far more planning and estimation of stock required to service our existing and new customers to ensure we don’t have demand at peak times and unable to rely on a speedy dispatch and delivery of freight to Australia.

Precision Planting continues to function with extra precautions but generally at full capacity. As most of their parts are manufactured and sourced in the US, their only slow-down should come from inside their own country. We are already seeing a large increase in airfreight times and costs and we will continue to plan to be organised with any parts that are required. Our distribution now spans all of the east coast including New Zealand while having remote parts locations continue to grow through all cropping areas. We are seeing the product and technical support knowledge of our partners expand greatly as years go by and internally we continue to add team members in the right area (support) ensuring we are capable of keeping planters and seeders going when they have to roll.
We welcome Adam to the team
We are glad to announce that Adam Kennedy, based in Moree, will be joining the team in the coming weeks. With a background in farming, Adam has a wide range of general agricultural knowledge. His current role in the Precision Ag support team with Chesterfields Moree, has given him a fantastic following and rapport with farmers.

There are a number of reasons we wanted Adam to join our team, none more important than his attitude towards supporting customers when they need it both remotely and on farm. Adam’s role will be very similar to everyone else here in that we are multitasked in sales, fitting and support – none more important than the remote support that we are beginning to excel in with the opening of our “Customer Central” support centre and online tracking facilities.
Customer Central
We had a great uptake of the yearly support package we put out last year, given the few planters that actually managed to work due to the drought, and we rolled over any Customer Central packages that were not used into this year. Through tracking our on farm service calls, as well as online, it became very clear there is real value in our programme, so much so that we will give an additional year to anyone that purchased a Customer Central support package and did not see the value of the programme after the year. Customers that have purchased new 20/20 Precision monitors to control and monitor have a 2-year subscription to Customer Central, so it will be the third year of planting that anyone would need to come on board.

I have had a long experience in the ag industry, both using and servicing equipment, that has given me a very short fuse. When operating my own equipment I expect it to work every time and when it doesn’t, I have to be able to call someone who can help ASAP (at all times of the week) without feeling like I need to convince someone to answer after hours or to just help me over the phone because I’m not prepared to wait for someone to come out and diagnose a problem. Due to this, I’ve generally had a trend of keeping too many spare parts on hand just in case a problem arises with my equipment. And it is for this reason, I know our Support programme ticks both boxes with parts and experienced phone support, making it a very easy decision to justify.

We have always done our best to service remotely where possible in a timely manner. But, as the number of Precision Planting equipment in the field continues to grow rapidly, we have seen the need to implement and shift our focus to serving customers better.

In addition to extensive training, being on the phone to support you when you need it is important. It could be a very easy question of where to find something on your monitor, or advanced diagnostics, saving you from waiting for a technician to travel at your busiest time of the year. The hugely reduced cost of the programme compared to justifying travel expenses these days makes sense.

We have had 3 new team members start in the last 14 months, all with the intention of being able to support you better. We are 100 percent committed to giving every one of our customers the best planting experience possible, and this is why two years are part of your initial start up, and then we ask you to help us serve you well by coming on board with Customer Central and let us guarantee you that you receive great value for your money.

New Service Partner
We are happy to announce Steve Lanyon and his team at Spot On Ag are joining us as part of the PSS Ag network of Dealers. Steve has had a passion for Precision, starting many years ago on his farm at Boort in Victoria that led him to wanting to be a part of introducing Precision Planting to Australia. While his early focus revolved around chasing the highest corn yields possible, he has spread his knowledge into a number of winter crops and has seen a great following in the region.  We are excited to add and expand our knowledge and depth of trained leaders in our industry as we look to service machines in all regions of Australia and New Zealand bringing additional value and the best Precision Planting experience possible.
PSSAG Inverell warehouse remains open
We are well equipped to pack and freight parts all year round, though it will definitely ease any risk of wait time or supply issues if you’re able to give us the heads up on parts you may require closer to planting. We can then be sure to have them available.

We still have planter inspections available and booked in. If you would like us to perform one and give you a written report (though once again we may have additional restraints that we haven’t been used to, so we will need to be well organised in all areas, I believe) please contact us.

Please drop us a line to say hi any time, we love talking about planters and how we can best plant the seed, and let us talk you through or email some info about Customer Central.

Looking forward to speaking again soon.

Best Regards,
David McGavin
