The DUT Communications team spoke to the dynamic Dr Joe Molete, who is the new Director of the Midlands Campuses as of January 2020. He is responsible for the leadership and growth of the two DUT Midlands (Indumiso and Riverside) campuses.
Dr Molete is ecstatic to be part of the DUT community, especially since there is a new DUT strategy 2030. “I am privileged to learn from selfless colleagues who have vast knowledge and experience about DUT. I believe together we will transform DUT to be one of the best institutions,” he said proudly.

Earning a third place award for an outstanding conference paper at the 17th Clemson University Power System Conference (PSC) is Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Professor and Chair, at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering, Innocent Davidson, and Elutunji Buraimoh, a doctoral student at the Department of Electrical Power Engineering, who is under the supervision of Prof IE Davidson.

NGCOBO GIVES TALK ON FOOD SECURITY TO DUT DRAMA STUDENTS
The Midlands Entrepreneurship Centre and Student Desk officially launched its Game Changers programme for students living with disabilities, themed: There is an Ability in every DisAbility. The launch was held at the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Indumiso Campus: Innovation Hub, recently. The purpose of the programme is to expose students living with disabilities to entrepreneurship and encourage them to expose themselves to other programmes that can contribute to their growth.
NGCOBO GIVES TALK ON FOOD SECURITY TO DUT DRAMA STUDENTS
Doing research into food security in higher educational sectors is what led Sboniso Ngcobo, a BTech student at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), in Consumer Science: Food and Nutrition, to talk to the Drama and Production Studies students on Food Security and Nutritious Food, at the Ritson campus, recently.
His book came about after he had attended the National Siyaphumelela Conference in 2018 and participated in Siyaphumelela workshops and using the data collected, gained more information on food security for university students.
