A COVID-19 Update From Mayor Demings

Dear Business Leader:

As local businesses in the community, we know that you and your employees have been hit hard by this public healthcare crisis.  We are facing unprecedented and challenging times in Orange County, which is now our new normal as a community. On March 24, 2020, I signed an Executive Order that will call for a “Stay at Home” mandate for the entire county. This will go into effect at 11 p.m. on Thursday March 26th, and continue for two weeks until Thursday April 9th at 11 p.m. I did not take signing this executive order lightly. After discussion with our elected mayors and hospital partners, we believe this is the most effective way to deal with the coronavirus threat. I know this is uncomfortable, but our goal is to stop the spread of the virus and get life back to normal as quickly as possible.

Families First Coronavirus Response Act FAQs

As we shared in an earlier Daily Briefing, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act “creates emergency paid sick leave, as well as paid family leave in the case of school closures, for working families impacted by COVID-19,” according to the federal government. “It does so by requiring employers with up to 500 employees to provide paid sick leave and paid family leave, while providing a refundable payroll tax credit to employers to cover 100 percent of the cost of wages. There is also a refundable income tax credit for self-employed individuals.” For more on this,  read here.

DigPro Media

DigoPro Media has created the Save Florida Businesses initiative to provide the small business owners of Florida a supplementary revenue stream during mandated shutdowns by allowing customers to purchase "gift card bonds." These bonds will be gift certificates sold at reduced prices to be redeemed at full value once businesses are re-opened at full capacity. For example, a restaurant owner could sell a gift certificate now for $75 that could be redeemed for $100 by the customer at a specified future date. There is NO COST TO BUSINESSES TO PARTICIPATE! This directory will promote participating small businesses throughout Florida through multiple channels; email, social media, networks, and content marketing. A resource page will serve as a place to share success stories, tips, updates and advice for and from business owners throughout our state. By combining our efforts and banding together during this difficult time, the small businesses of Florida can overcome the challenges together and thrive in a united effort. Please go to www.SaveFloridaBusiness.com to join. Go to “List Business” and fill out the form to become a part of our initiative to promote your business and strengthen your future throughout our state-wide directory. Then all you have to do is share through your channels to your loyal customers!

Servpro of Winter Park

We are offering Covid-19 cleaning services for commercial and residential properties in addition to our usual water, fire, sewage and mold mitigation, and remediation services. It is $1.00 per square foot to clean areas that are currently affected by Covid-19 and $.50 for areas not affected. Our process is to disinfect and fog with a virucide called Benefect. Then we can come in later that day or the next to wipe everything down and continue to disinfect. There is always the disclaimer that despite extensive and thorough cleaning, there is never a 100% guarantee Covid-19 is completely eradicated from the environment. But we do follow CDC guidelines for Covid-19 sanitization.

Visiting Angels

If you are unable to visit your loved ones at their home or in a facility, Visiting Angels can serve as much-needed companions, caregivers and support to your family member. Currently all Nursing Homes, Rehabs and Assisted Living Communities are restricted from allowing non-essential "visitors" into their buildings. Visiting Angels is considered "essential supportive staff," which allows our caregivers to be able to go into those communities to check on your loved one. Please reach out to see how we can help: https://www.visitingangels.com/orlando
