As we get used to sheltering in place, I am so aware of missing all of you, and especially on Sundays. I'm glad some of our major Episcopal institutions are broadcasting professionally filmed services to sit and watch, but it only makes me realize more fully how the Mass actually depends on all of us, together. The Mass at Emmanuel is us specific people in one specific place, all of us making the liturgy happen and making Christ present -- yes, by the consecration, but also by the physical presence of these local members of his Body. Episcopalians have services of the Word like Compline or Morning Prayer that can legitimately happen virtually (and are at Emmanuel), but there is no such thing as a virtual Mass. I cannot wait until we are able to have a real Mass and taste again the Blessed Sacrament together.
This Week's Highlights
SUNDAY COMPLINE & COFFEE HOUR
Mother Beth will host Compline on Zoom followed by a time to catch up with other Emmanuelites on Sunday evenings beginning at 8pm. Join at this link or enter meeting ID 208-217-0000 in your Zoom app. You can also call in on a regular phone, +1 312 626 6799 and enter meeting ID 208-217-0000 when prompted.

KEEPING MINISTRY MOVING
In every church, donations always drop in summer, when people often aren’t there in person. The same thing has happened these weeks when Public Health concerns have kept us from having Masses, and Emmanuel does need everyone's financial investment in order to maintain our cash flow.  If you have not been laid off or had to close a business, we hope you will consider pre-praying a portion of your pledge or simply giving a little extra now to cover your fellow parishioners who simply cannot. Mail a check to the office, donate via Paypal or Breeze on the GIVE tab of our website, or make a donation on your phone -- use the Breeze app or text GIVE to (217) 262-6464. Any support you can give will make a real difference for continued mission and ministry at Emmanuel.

APRIL MESSENGER
The April Messenger will be sent by email due to current Covid-19 restrictions.  The newsletter will be emailed as a pdf attachment to everyone who has an email in Breeze.  You can check to see if we have your email in Breeze here.  All Emmanuelites are in the Breeze database, but if you have never activated your account, email the office to receive an invite.

TUESDAY BIBLE STUDIES RESUME
The women's Bible study is meeting at noon on Tuesdays via Zoom. Contact Kathy Aquino or 217-840-4587 for access information. The men's Bible study is meeting at 7 a.m. on Tuesdays via Zoom. Contact Fr. Caleb  or 405-921-8142 for access information.

SHARE A NEED
Do you need someone to run errands, want a tutorial on Zoom, or know of a parishioner with a need? We're collecting requests on this form and some of our younger parishioners are eager to serve. If you can offer help, please also fill out the form. In these days we are living out 1 Corinthians 12:25:  "But God has put the Body together so that there should be no division, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other."

Emmanuel can also arrange to have meals provided; just ask!
