Thank you, parents for partnering with us during these unprecedented times. Thank you for sifting through daily emails, troubleshooting tech issues, working with your child, and communicating with your child’s teacher over the past week. My note today is meant to re-assure you. We are working hard as a staff to give you meaningful materials, nothing is meant to overwhelm. Please continue to do what you can. We fully understand you are juggling work schedules and now, supporting your child’s learning, too.
We miss our Falcon students and the daily interaction we are accustomed to share. Our staff are seizing opportunities for professional development and virtual collaboration as much as possible. We continue to plan carefully, continuously reflecting on our practices. Our mantra, for our students, our families and our staff: do the best you can!
Next week is Spring Break (March 30-April 3rd). We won’t be sending daily activities because we hope your family can unplug and enjoy some relaxation as well as rejuvenation! Our staff will be doing the same. For now, we are planning on remote learning activities for April 6th and 7th, when we return from spring break. However, we are expecting more information and an updated directive from the Governor and the Illinois State Board of Education regarding how education will look after April 7th. As soon as we know something as a district, we will pass this along to you.
We are talking about more than academics when we plan for your children. We want to stay connected to them in every way possible. We are thinking about the importance of the whole child, more than ever before. Your child’s emotional well-being is first and foremost during these trying times, and we want them to be happy and engaged with meaningful activities while feeling safe at home. Please reach out if there is anything I can do to support you. In the meantime, take good care of yourselves and stay well.
We are taking things one day at a time, and we think of you…our families, as you journey through these unprecedented times.
