Gathered to Serve a Community in Need
Please note changes below - updated information is in blue

It takes a village...

Concern amongst the community is rising exponentially, and in the same fashion, we're seeing a proportionate rise in the need of those in our community. As agencies, schools, and businesses shut down, Connected Community Schools continues to head up its boots-on-the-ground, full-steam-ahead Community Response Team.

Notice went out to the superintendents of all four Connected Community School districts (Rome, Dolgeville, Waterville, and Town of Webb) that the district referral system, where struggling students and families are connected to needed resources, would remain open and the CCS team would be on call to assist and support wherever possible.

Community members in our schools are encouraged to use the Response Team helpline, directing calls or texts to 315-982-2520; they can also call 315-534-5648 or reach out on the Connected Community Schools Facebook page.

In attempts to address food insecurity, specifically in our Brothertown Connected Community Schools location at the Waterville CSD, our Community Response Team will be bringing a FOOD DROP to the WCS Jr/Sr High School on Tuesday March 31  from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.  Food will be distributed to families in the area. These food bags will include meat, easy to make meals, fresh produce and dairy products.  The food will be distributed by our CCS Response Team and area volunteers. This donation was made possible by the Rome Alliance for Education and Safe Schools Mohawk Valley with Brothertown Connected Community School.  We are expecting to assist over 300 families.  Assistance will not be limited to families of students enrolled at WCS.  There are no eligibility qualifications or identification needed.

The Rome Connected Community Schools food pantry is still operational.  Food is being distributed weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, out of Gansevoort Elementary School, Rome.  As of Tuesday March 26, over 1400 families have been given food assistance.  Our Community Assistance Help Line has assisted and triaged over 750 phone calls from within our Connected Community.

Our team is actively accepting any donations for nonperishable/shelf-stable food products and hygiene products, as well as monetary donations (checks can be made out to Rome Alliance for Education). Donation information can be found at 315-292-3250.
