SHASA Meetings Go virtual

We can't meet face to face so SHASA meeting will now be on-line using ZOOM. This technology of connection will still enable us to work productively together.
To join a virtual meeting you will need an internet connection, a computer, iPad or smartphone.
You can use audio-only (in which case you will see us but we won't see you), or both audio and video. Depending on your technology you will need to download some software to support Zoom. This happens when you join your first meeting or you can go to ZOOM and figure out what you need beforehand.

We will host a ZOOM Practice Meeting Wednesday 1 April at 10 am
This will be a chance to test your system, have a chat and demonstrate how virtual meetings work.

NEXT SHASA monthly meeting Tuesday 7 April 10.30 am - 12:30 pm (ONLINE)

If you want to join a meeting let us know ( contact.shasa@gmail.com) and we will email an invite that will provide the meeting link.
We may be able to assist with computer technology if required.  Call Steve Colman 0414 491375 or email steve@globallearning.com.au if you have any questions.

These virtual meetings will be important to enable us to keep connected and help progress our goal of a low carbon Eurobodalla.

SHASA project updates

SHASA has completed the final report for the Stronger Communities Fund grant of $14,300. So far SHASA has installed solar, batteries (MESA), two air conditioners, upgraded electrical and lighting and a manual generator cut-over switch. A big thank you to Steve Cornwthwaite and his apprentices at MESA.

'We are really grateful to SHASA and MESA for the significant work achieved on the hall. The air conditioning with solar and batteries made a real difference during the bushfire crisis. It will continue to make a difference in terms of providing sustainable and safe haven for our community in this changing climate."  Linda Chapman
  • SHASA has installed two rainwater tanks, plumping and water pump with FRRR grant (Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal) thanks so much to Mark Rote re-plumbing job.
  • SHASA has applied for an Increasing Resilience to Climate Change Grant for a project titled Climate Change Resilience for Families and Preschool children in Moruya. This would involve installing solar, batteries, rooftop sprinkler system, fire hose and fire pump at the Moruay preschool in Campbell St Moruya.
  •  SHASA has applied for an Increasing Resilience to Climate Change Grant for RFS sheds electrical upgrades.
  • SHASA has secured $10,000 for the Moos News Community Newsletter to be produced for the next 12 months. It will be produced both electronically and in hard copy as part of the Bushfire Recovery process.
  • SHASA has scheduled with MESA to install solar at the Eurobodalla Women's Refuge and the Bodalla Local Lands Council in the next couple of months.  These projects were funded by the solar bulk buy and raffles.  It is SHASA's way of making local community organisations more resilient and reducing their carbon footprint.

SHASA energy audits

The SHASA energy auditors undertook an audit of the Batemans Bay Historical Society premises in Batemans Bay on 25 March.  They have already undertaken a number of energy efficiency measures including ceiling and underfloor insulation and an LED lighting upgrade.  The organisations were provided with six door seals, weather seals and a smart powerboard for their computers.   A residential audit will be undertaken next week in Guerilla Bay.

We need Council to install these in our towns.

The Solar Bulk Buy

Systems purchased through the Bulk buy also see a small contribution from each installation donated to SHASA to assist with projects in the Eurobodalla community; this has allowed SHASA to provide, with MESA's assistance, free solar systems for the Red Door Cafe in Moruya and also for Monty's in Narooma.
