MORE THAN CONQUERORS

A personal message from Bishop Philip.

STAY AT HOME

Please Note: WE ARE NOT AN "ESSENTIAL SERVICE"

This means that for all clergy and all parish personnel the lockdown rules apply, this means you must stay at home unless you are making an essential trip to the supermarket or pharmacy (or taking exercise in your immediate neighbourhood).

If you have a question about what is or isn’t permitted, as a rule of thumb the answer will most likely be ‘no’, but you can monitor advice and regulations listed on www.covid19.govt.nz. If you still have queries, watch a recent speech from the prime minister where she tells everyone to stay home and ensure you are always in your own bubble.  This means that:
  • No-one is allowed to visit the Church or Church office;
  • Clergy are not allowed to be physically present at committals;
  • Any connection made with members of the Parish or local community must be virtual and must not compromise anyone’s bubble – use the phone or an online platform like zoom or skype;
  • Food preparation and delivery is not allowed unless it is being prepared by someone in the recipient's bubble.
  • Please do not print and distribute papers. We know that the virus can live on paper for a considerable period of time.

DIOCESAN PRAYERS

Family of God | Followers of Christ

Marked by Gratitude
  • Thank you for our champions who work in essential services: especially our supermarket workers, medical staff, and urban/rural utility support.
Growing Disciples
  • May this be an opportunity to connect with each other in new ways, to deepen our relationships, and discover new aspects of God.
Transforming Communities
  • Transforming God, empower us to be changed by this experience - to be more aware of those inside and outside our communities; to recall that we exist primarily "for the benefit of our non-members". May we come out of the lockdown knowing ourselves and your will for us with absolute clarity.
We are not people of fear: we are people of courage.
We are not people who protect our own safety: we are people who protect our neighbours’ safety.
We are not people of greed: we are people of generosity.
We are your people God, giving and loving,
Wherever we are, whatever it costs,
For as long as it takes wherever you call us.
Amen
