This must have been the longest week ever! Working from home is quite challenging with 6 adults in the house and kittens on the way. At least the weather is lovely which is great for keeping morale up. Also our local pub had to clear it cellar so we all had to pitch up with jugs and bottles to fill up and take home last night.
Amazing to be part of the clapping for the NHS that happened last night, I’m sure that we all felt quite emotional especially as we hear stories of more healthcare workers becoming ill and now dying. Whatever our role now, we are all doing our very best to keep things going and support the efforts of our colleagues. Even when we are working from home, remember to ‘bring your best self’ to your kitchen table or wherever you are based.
We all must appreciate the emotion involved as we test our resilience and adapt as best we can to the new reality where everything it seems that has gone before no longer matters. Acknowledge that emotion, don’t let it build up, let it out now, allow yourselves that.
I expect that next week we will be holding our first trial nurse forum via Zoom, and I’m looking into sourcing and producing digital updates for clinicians in bitesize chunks, and Tracey and I are working out a way that we can provide support for nurses via scheduled zoom meetings.
The Covid-19 page on our website is gathering a lot of really useful resource available to everyone, do have a look and if you have anything to add please send it in to the team.
Wishing you all a restful and restorative weekend

We help registered nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants, both working and retired, when they’re suffering personal or financial hardship. This is often due to illness, disability, older age and domestic abuse.
We’re a charity and we help people at no cost to them. There’s no membership, we’re not a union or insurance scheme. And it all starts with getting in touch.
If you don’t know where to turn, you may be able to receive financial help from Cavell Nurses’ Trust.

Prof Yvonne Doyle, Medical Director, Public Health England, said “This service will help us ensure the public has a trusted source for the right information about coronavirus, updated with the latest public health guidance and providing assurance that they are not misled by any of the false information circulating.”
