Port City Makerspace Member,

On Thursday, March 26th, Governor Sununu issued Emergency Order #17, Pursuant to Executive Order 2020-04.  This emergency order requires NH residents to stay at home, and all non-essential businesses to close their facilities to workers, their customers, and the public.

While the Makerspace strongly believes the service we provide to our members and our community is very important, our Board of Directors agrees that the mission of our nonprofit is not categorized as essential as defined in Exhibit A to Emergency Order #17.  For that reason, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend our membership program - effective 3/27/20 at 11:59 PM - until further notice. In keeping with the emergency order, our membership program will be resumed no sooner than May 4th 2020.  We will be following updates from local, state, and federal authorities in the interest of resuming our services as soon as possible.

We understand this will have an impact on your personal and professional lives; we hope that you understand this decision is impactful on our nonprofit as well, and is not one we’ve made lightly.

For that reason, we are asking for your continued support in this time of hardship.  As we suspend our membership services, we are offering several subscription management options to our members.  For those who can, we are asking that you maintain your membership subscription throughout this period of temporary closure.  With the cancellation of classes, our revenue has taken a serious blow. Maintaining as much of our membership subscription revenue as possible will be critical to our ability to spring back into action as swiftly as possible, as soon as we are able.  If you support the Makerspace and value our contributions to the community, we hope you will stick with us in this time of hardship so we can be there to support you when we move past this pandemic and into finer times.

Please respond to the following survey to instruct us on how to handle your membership subscription.

Below this survey is additional information for members to address access and storage.

Regarding Membership and Storage:

In previous messages, we’ve asked our members to be prepared to remove needed belongings from the Makerspace in the event of a temporary closure.  As this is now the case, we are providing the following instructions for how to retrieve your belongings over the next few days:

-Members are able to utilize their membership service as they please until midnight tonight.  Please note that our maximum capacity of 9 members is still in effect, and membership activity should be focused on clearing workspaces and personal spaces.

-Members will be able to access the space through Sunday 3/29, on an appointment-only basis, as cleared by our General Manager, Alex.

-Any member who is sick or showing symptoms is asked to stay at home, and encouraged to access the space at a later date.

-Starting Monday 3/30, members may be granted access to the space, by appointment only, as cleared by Alex or a member of the board of directors.  The purpose of this limited access to the space will be exclusively to allow members to retrieve their belongings - not to engage in Maker activities.

-The doors to the space will be locked - your RFID key and access code will not be functional until we reopen.

Please contact Alex at alex@portcitymakerspace.com or 603-373-1002 if you have any questions, or to arrange an appointment to retrieve items from the shop.  We sincerely appreciate your continued support throughout these challenging times. I look forward to experiencing the joy of Making with you all as soon as we are able.  Please stay safe, get some fresh air, and continue to DIY as best you can on the home front.
