Hello Church on the Bayou Family!

Sunday, March 29 is an important day for our church community. We will ordain and install Fred Fulk into his new role as a Ruling Elder!

Because of our unusual circumstances honoring the "social distancing" protocols, we are doing the service on "Facebook" LIVE at 10:30am. And because our "Book of Order" requires that YOU participate in Fred's ordination and installation, I am writing to ask you a very special request.

If it is possible for you to participate in the LIVE service, please do so. There will be a time in the service - early on - when you will be asked some questions in support of Fred's new role. Here's the "fun" part: We really need you to "comment" on the LIVE broadcast so we know you are "present."

It's very simple to do and - thanks to wonderful technology - we can hold this important ceremony virtually!

Will you please join us? Even if you are not "on Facebook," perhaps you have a friend or family member who is and who could help you? Either way, I pray you will be able to participate and join us in worship and celebration Sunday.

The message will be from Psalm 130 and Romans 8:6-11

Psalm 130: From the depths of despair, O Lord,
    I call for your help.
Hear my cry, O Lord.
    Pay attention to my prayer.
Lord, if you kept a record of our sins,
    who, O Lord, could ever survive?
But you offer forgiveness,
    that we might learn to fear you.
I am counting on the Lord;
    yes, I am counting on him.
    I have put my hope in his word.
I long for the Lord
    more than sentries long for the dawn,
    yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.
O Israel, hope in the Lord;
    for with the Lord there is unfailing love.
    His redemption overflows.
He himself will redeem Israel
    from every kind of sin.

Romans 8: 6-11  So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) 10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life[d] because you have been made right with God. 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Love to you in Christ,
Pastor Lissa
