A LETTER FROM US AT GLA TO YOU

Dear clients and families,

As the world is going through difficult times, we are all required to change our regular routines, by staying home, keeping social distance and change the way we communicate and complete our daily functions.

Social isolation is affecting us all. It is making us sad, lonely and scared and it is making us nervous, as to what is happening in our world.

It is affecting our relationship with our family, our children and our loved ones.

Maintaining our routines, our mental health, preventing deterioration in our mood and anxieties and maintaining our productivity and meaning for the day, have always been the focus of rehabilitation after a trauma.

Now, and for a temporary and undetermined duration, we have to make the effort and to cope with new challenges, such as connecting remotely, learning new apps that can help us buy groceries, learning new activities, and be innovative, solving problems in our daily life.

At GLA our OTs, PTs, RTs and SWs are working very hard to develop strategies, as well as developing virtual and remote sessions.

You will receive a new consent form, asking for your consent to use an un-secure platform during sessions, in order to eliminate the burden of learning new technology that you are not familiar with.

We will continue to develop and maintain your daily routine and self-care, and will continue to practice cognitive rehabilitation, physical activities, mental wellbeing, sleep hygiene, pain management, community access, financial stress and budgeting, and provide regular updates on CoVID-19, and more.

We are having concerns regarding the practice of disengaging from therapy. At first and foremost, we would like to continue and assist with progressing your ability to function.

Secondly, there is a concern, that disengagement will hurt our mutual relationship, if this continues for a long time, which will be difficult to re-establish when CoVID-19 is all behind us.

We want to make sure that we continue to advise your insurers and your lawyers on your status and your difficulties. Without communicating with you, this will be very hard to do.
We understand that your lawyers are encouraging you to continue to have rehabilitation sessions in a safe a comfortable manner.

We do not know when this will end. However, we are promised that it will end.

While it is only temporary that we will have to communicate this way, we want to ensure that when this well all be behind us, our first in-home session with you, will be completed, as if we never let this crisis separate us.

Take care and stay safe and healthy!
