COVID-19 UPDATE
AFRICA FASHION WEEK AMSTERDAM 2020

Dear friends, partners and supporters,

The Government of the Netherlands has introduced additional, stricter measures to control the coronavirus outbreak. The new measures that mainly concerned events and gatherings were announced and outlined during a press conference on Monday 23 March to be reassessed by 6 April 2020 at the latest. One of these measures include ''Events and gatherings for which organisers would normally be required to apply for a permit or notify the authorities are banned until 1 June 2020.''

As of March 25, 2020, the total number of reported Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the Netherlands reached 6412. With nearly 300 cases, Amsterdam registered the most cases in the country. After the capital, the municipalities with the highest number of cases were Tilburg and Utrecht, both registering over 200 cases. It is believed that the virus has entered the Netherlands on the 27th of February 2020 after a Dutch resident returned from the Italian region of Lombardy. Since then, the
number of positive tests for coronavirus has increased steadily in the country.

At AFWA, we are looking after our friends and neighbours by following the advice of the Government of the Netherlands by practising social distancing and cutting down on non-essential travel. Our offices are closed globally and we are all working from home. Thankfully none of our key-players, sponsors and partners have been affected by this pandemic so far, but I know this crisis is having an unprecedented effect on our industry, our loved ones, friends and colleagues.

AFWA2020 is scheduled to take place on August 20th - 22nd which is five months away. While maintaining a good, healthy and prayerful business relationship with our key-players, partners and sponsors, we are going to hold steady until 1st June. We are also going to suspend ticket sales until 6th April after the official reassessment as we are all living in times of uncertainty. Our love and support are with all who have been affected personally by this pandemic.

We hope you are doing well and that your family is safe.

Please keep the prayers up!

Warmest regards,

Diana Tambe Blackpearl
