Dear friends in Christ,

Our sojourn through the quarantine wilderness continues. Take heart, I have some good news. (And not just the Gospel!) Our wonderful musical accompanist Gabe Haiderer has prepared video recordings for our hymns of the week (the lyrics are both on the screen and in the order of service). I have included them, along with the worship/sermon video, in a playlist on YouTube.

Ideas for Worshiping at Home

My wonderful wife Anne also had some suggestions for worship at home, especially for families:

  • Get dressed in church clothes
  • Create a "home altar": something simple, with a candle or two and a cross—and if you want to get really fancy, a purple cloth
  • Put the chairs in a row like a pew, or sit together on the couch (pro tip: if you have a smart TV, you can watch the service through the YouTube app on your television instead of bunching around the computer screen)
  • As an added bonus this week, here are some Visual Faith resources for you to use at home: a children's bulletin and sermon note-taking form. They focus more on the day's Gospel reading from John 11 (which will be our text for Wednesday), but they can still be helpful.

Other opportunities for receiving God's gifts

Also, don't forget two other opportunities on Sunday to receive God's gifts as part of the TLC family:

  • Join us for a live and interactive Bible study via Zoom at 10 a.m. Sunday morning. Follow this link. I adjusted the settings this week, so you shouldn't need to enter a log-in or password (if prompted, the meeting code is 441-085-800). You can also phone in by calling (253) 215-8782.
  • Holy Communion will be available again at the curbside Sunday morning from 11 a.m. - Noon. If you are among our vulnerable populations, I advise you once again to use your best discretion. If you are sick at all, please stay home. This is offered simply for those who desire it, but by no means is anyone obliged to come, nor is any judgment rendered on those who refrain.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor T.
