Holy Week Special Activities

Holy Week Worship Kits

As our congregation is distributed throughout the city, we are making preparations to be able to share in common experiences during Holy Week.  To this end, we are preparing special Holy Week Worship Kits.
These kits will include palm fronds, a daily devotional guide with object lessons, envelopes to help with offerings, pre-sealed and consecrated communion cups, and a surprise gift.  We will be celebrating communion together on Easter Sunday rather than Palm Sunday or Maundy Thursday.  The communion elements will be consecrated by our ministers prior to their placement in the worship kits.

Holy Week Worship Kits will be available for curbside pick-up at the church facility (300 San Fernando St.) on Saturday, April 4 from 9:00 - 11:00 AM and from 12:30-2:00 PM on Palm Sunday, April 5.

We ask that those with transportation hardships communicate directly through e-mail with Pastor John Feagins at pastorjohn@latrinidadchurch.com by Thursday April 2 to arrange for a worship kit to be delivered.

Palm Sunday

Worship will be offered online at 9:30 AM in Spanish and at 11:00 AM in English.  Let us sing "Hosanna!" as we celebrate Jesus together with palms!

Daily Devotions and Object Lessons

Each day of Holy Week, special devotions will use scripture and ordinary items to relate the story of Holy Week and the journey of Jesus through his Passion.  Instructions and a guide will be included in your worship kit with a video resource on our YouTube channel.

Maundy Thursday

We invite you to join via ZOOM to share a community dinner and love feast at 6:00 P.M. hosted from the Feagins' residence.  Install ZOOM on your smart device, tablet, or computer, then click on the link below at the time indicated to be included.  Love Feasts, an ancient tradition of Christianity, share water and bread rather than the wine and bread of Holy Communion.  (Communion will be shared on Easter Sunday.)

Topic: Maundy Thursday Love Feast
Time: Apr 9, 2020 06:00 PM Central Time (US and Canada)

Good Friday

On Good Friday, a special video presentation featuring several pastors affiliated with La Trinidad UMC will be uploaded on the theme of the Seven Last Words of Christ.

Sunrise Selfies

We want to see you, too!  Please email us your individual or family Easter portraits or "Sunrise-Selfie" pictures by noon on Saturday, April 11, 2020 if you would like your photos included (without names) in a special "Sunrise Selfie" Slideshow to be broadcast as part of an 8:00 AM "Sunrise" service on Easter morning.  We will also share this slideshow to our church website.

Easter Sunday Communion Service

With communion elements consecrated and distributed in the worship kits, we will celebrate Holy Communion together at 9:30 AM and at 11:00 AM on Easter Sunday morning.  Please retain the communion elements in your worship kit for this special service.
New Camera Enhances Worship Broadcast
A generous gift from the church's breakfast ministry has provided the sanctuary with a new pan-tilt-zoom high definition teleconferencing video camera, greatly enhancing the video quality of our online worship broadcast.  Pastors John and Raquel Feagins, Jacob Ybarra, Iris Rodriguez, David Sonnen, Clarissa Rivera and her daughter Natalia, and musicians Moses Contreras, James Kee, and Valerie Mendoza have teamed up to provide both the 9:30 AM service in Spanish and the 11:00 AM service in English.   Our worship service can include pre-recorded content prepared off-site.  Please contact Rev. John Feagins by email if you desire to remotely prepare and offer a song, prayer, reading, or testimony to be included in our weekly service.

The radio interference in previous broadcasts has been diagnosed and resolved.
Prayer Requests
We encourage you to send in prayer requests to be included in our live worship broadcast.  These can be sent by text message to Pastor Raquel's cell phone (210) 445-6706, or to her email at pastorraquel@latrinidadchurch.com.  Please consider sending these prior to the service so they can be more easily noted and shared.  Some details of concerns may be generalized to respect the privacy of those receiving prayer.

Please feel free to contact either of our pastors throughout the week as needs arise, especially if there is a report of hospitalization or illness.
