Sound Discipline Parenting Resources
Hello!

We hope you are keeping safe and well during this challenging time.

To help families with kids at home during school closures, each week Sound Discipline is sharing resources around a theme. Last week, we covered the theme of Self-Regulation. This week we are adding the theme of Family Meetings.

Each week, resources are emailed to school leaders who share them directly with parents in their communities. If you have ideas about what resources would be most helpful, please take a moment and fill out this google survey.

Self-regulation is so important any time, but especially during a stressful time like now. If your child attends a Sound Discipline school, they have been learning and practicing self-regulation skills in their classroom. Ask them to show you 'brain in the palm of the hand' and to teach a you a breathing exercise or a calm down exercise

You can also download a free PDF of our self-regulation cards. Print and cut them out as a family, choosing your favorite ones to practice so that you have some good go-to activities when you or your child 'flips their lid'. Additional self-regulation resources can be found on our website.

Family meetings are a great tool to start during this time of increased togetherness! Again, if your child attends a Sound Discipline school, they have been learning and practicing meeting skills during their classroom meetings. Check out our video on how to get started with family meetings, and find additional resources on our website

Keep in touch with us during this time via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or email. We want to hear from you and support you.

Sending all our best wishes,

Stacy Lappin
Director of Program

Support for Parents
Though Sound Discipline is  not offering parenting classes at this time, we are available to offer parent support. For example, our Facilitators are co-hosting Zoom calls with school principals for parents. If we can help support parents in your community, send us an email.

Take our poll
Tell us how we can support your family during this time. This quick Google poll will help us understand the needs of our community.

Demonstration School Tours
We hold monthly tours at our partner schools, which is a great way to see our work first hand. Observe class meetings in action and listen to students and school staff talk about the impact of Sound Discipline in their school. These tours will be resumed as soon as it is safe to do so. Visit our website for more information, and email us if you'd like to be notified when we schedule the next tour.
